Yeah, i'd like to see that back as well. I quite liked that option.
Thirded. I'm not interested in the last post made on a topic, and I'm sure as heck not interested in the first post in the topic (especially for the 50+ page threads!), I'm interested in the posts I haven't read yet. This is, IMO, a critical function of forum software!
So it wasnt removed, just turned into a small icon .... also , can nayone help? i tried posting on colt feedback and it kept saying "an error has occurred" and when i posted in a different forum, it said it was deleted and told me "Forbidden you do not have permission to do that"
This has not been removed. Clicking the little arrow, or the cube, will take you to it.
Hmmm, I haven't seen it. I suppose I'll take a closer look when I get a chance then.
EDIT: After heading to a random thread with multiple pages I've been unable to find the button. Where is it? Something like this should be easy to find but I'm not seeing it. It used to be in the spot where "reply" "search" and "tools" but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

You mean this?
Yeah, clicked that for this thread and got an error page. Click it for other threads and it takes me to the first page (which I'd already viewed).

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.
it will only take you to the first unread post if there is an unread post. I will look into it however just to be sure
1) Reading the first page of a 50 page thread should result in the other 49 pages being unread. Button should take me to page 2.
2) If I have in fact read every post, the new post button should take me to the last post (or at least the last page), simply out of convenience. The thread title itself already takes me to the first post, no need to double-up on functionality.
3) If I backspace into a quote box (that is, hit backspace on the first line after a quote box and have no other lines outside the quote box) I cannot ever type anything outside the quote box without refreshing the page (which prompts a confirmation).

As for the error, we are aware of a few database issues. We are working hard to get it all in order!
Like I said, I went to a random thread I never looked at before that had multiple pages. The button should have been visible but I was unable to find it.

1) the way the system works right now, it just checks if you have entered the tread to mark it as read. Ill pass this feedback on though
2) Agree, ill chat with people add this to the doc if they agree as well
3) Yeah, this should not be functioning like that, ill do some tests, and add it to the QA doc,

If this is saying what I think you're saying, I think this is awful and a huge step backwards. I just want to confirm this is how it now works:
There is a thread with 14 replies. I read them. While I'm away from the forums (gasp!) four more replies are posted. I currently have no way to jump direct to those new replies.
Is this correct? The old forum software could do this, and it is a standard feature on pretty much every forum software I've seen (and I'm on a lot of forums)
Please confirm, or let me know what I'm doing wrong?

That is not correct
clicking he block on the left (the green cube with the chat symbol on it) will take you to the first of those new posts
However, clicking on the cube while there is a new post, currently sends you to "undefined" we will have that fixed up tomorrow
edit: actually, we only use the cube here, (no arrow for it) [Arrow is for latest post]
But as I said, cube will be up tomorrow

That green cube is in a terrible location. In the old forums I bookmarked the thread's first page. Whenever I went back to it (if there was a new post) there was a button that said "go to first unread post" that I could easily click on and continue reading where I left off. It used to be up where the "reply" "search" and "tools" buttons are now. Now if I want to use the new "go to first unread post" button I have to sift through all the threads looking for the one I want to follow.
Has my previous post been ignored? I'm guessing it has due to this thread being moved to the feedback archive. All I am asking for is a "first unread post" button to be in the same location as it was before the move to cobalt, or at the very least be in someplace that's easily accessible. Am I really asking for too much here?

I'm really sorry that your thread was moved to the archive without a satisfactory reply, a simple moderation error! We're aware that the "Go to first unread post" functionality is very important and we'll ensure that it is available in a usable and sane way (clearly visible, understandable) as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience
Ah, thank you. This transition to cobalt has been rather bumpy. Things seem to be smoothing out though. Once this is sorted out I don't think I personally have anymore issues with the change.

That's great news! I agree regarding the transition, compared to the majority of transitions I've experienced it has been smooth but in general it could certainly have been smoother. The problem is it's very difficult to truly understand what features actually exist, that might sound strange but there have been numerous things I use every single day that I just completely forgot about and didn't come to light until we actually made the move. I tested the software every day for a month and didn't once realise that we couldn't see when someone had last read a Private Message, or that I couldn't permanently toggle the post editor between bbcode and wysiwyg modes, super obvious things that just become so well used that I can't even remember they exist! Another good example is when issuing a warning, moderators cannot preview the automated Private Message that is sent to a user (a very helpful and obvious feature) and in a month of testing nobody noticed! Yet within a few hours of the change happening numerous people realised and we realised how important that option is[1].
The fortunate thing about Cobalt is because this is the flagship Curse platform (that eventually all sites will use) it has a large development team who are committed to long term updates, and when they improve one Cobalt site they're improving all, which is really helpful for a company like Curse! I'm super optimistic about the future of the site on Cobalt, short term we're very much focused on getting the site in line with how users expect it to function based on the previous software (with a lot of improvements to that functionality!) and then long term we'll make significant steps forward to improve the software far beyond what we had before and what was possible before. I personally have a ton of really awesome ideas that I think will greatly improve the forum and can't wait to see them come to life!
Thank you for being so understanding by the way, really appreciated Feel free to get in touch if you think of anything else.
[1] This is one of the reasons Curse much prefers to launch sites when they feel ready (but might not be perfect) because no matter how much testing is done it's impossible to truly understand the outcome, so it's much better to launch when everyone feels the site is ready and then work towards perfection, rather than delay over and over to try and achieve perfection. I think we struck a good balance with the Cobalt launch between the two.
Yeah, I get it. Not everyone is going to use every last feature available to them. If a single feature goes missing (no matter how small) then the people who used it will get frustrated. It's pretty much one of those "You don't know what you have until it's gone" kinda situations.

I had thought it was strange that the beta stage was so short, but now I understand why. Testing can only get you so far. It's day-to-day use that provides the real results.
