If this isn't pixel art, than try adding more colors in-between. You might want to get a better program than paint, though, because then you can blur it and stuff. I would recommend Gimp; It is free, as powerful as photoshop, has layers, etc, but it does have a kinda steep learning curve, but it is easy once you know what you are doing and there are many tutorials online.
