You are right, I have been trying to get in all day and its been full. How many guest slots are there and how many member slots are there? I was able to get on for a little while last night, but I kept lagging out? Is it always like that? Also, what are the low times when very few members are on? Or at least, very few members?
Yes to use any mods you need to have the downloaded client version of Minecraft. Btw, you don't need the mods to play on the Voxel Box. They're just for your convenience.
And the server REALLY needs more guest slots.
You really do need to use the downloadible version?... :mellow.gif: THAT'S RETARTED!!! :angry.gif:
and gay... :dry.gif:
more guest slots = more lag, and once everything starts lagging all we get is complaints about how unplayable the game becomes, and it becomes much harder for our talented builders to build on the server. the admins will increase and decrease the guest limit when they see that the server has the man power and the space to include more guests and vice-versa. our staff is doing the best they can to allow as many people as possible on all the time.
Even if we had 20 slots dedicated to guests it would still be difficult to log in because of the enormous amount of traffic we get every day and night.
On the bright side, these conditions do tend to filter all of the most dedicated and talented people into the ranks of the Voxel Box.
In the mean time feel free to explore VoxelWiki.com as much as you like, the things you can learn there may mean the difference between membership and dissapointment.

That's understandable but I wish there was a way to filter out the people who want to actually BUILD and CONTRIBUTE from the people who want to maybe catch a glimpse of CaptainSparklez on the server. I really should have gotten on the server before he released the video about the custom map.
Thanks for tuning in! Want us to tour your build, or do you have a cool idea for a video?
We love doing fun and wacky Minecraft stuff and putting them on the youtubes. Give us a shout if you do too!

We already have such a system called Voxelslots and it does its job wonderfully. altough what you are suggesting is some sort of system that makes the server identify guests in two categories, which i dont see how is logically possible without some advanced detection system that would be way too complicated for the simple task it does. the other method which would be alot simpler ould be asking the guest... 90% would say they are willing and capable to become members which. well isent the case
but if you have so much trouble getting on now. then i really dont know what is wrong. i joined the server a week after the first video was posted and apart for some disconects. after 20 hours of hard work i was a member, now many people take a few more tries than just one like say 3-5 (then there is the people who take 2 months but that is another story) so. just get an idea for what you want to do before you get to the server, and build whatever it is you want to build fast. but definatly not without time to think and you should be good.
I know there has been lots of complaining about the guest slots. As a guest, I am not a fan of this either. May I suggest that there is a queue? I know the buxville server has that server (FYI, I was trying to login and I waited the queue, and only after a while I found out you had to be whitelisted, and there was no guest system). It works well since there is an online list of how long each player has been waiting (you have to attempt to relog at least once every 15 min). And more importantly, it's in an orderly-fasioned line. Also, its nice since if you get DC'd, you still have something like 1-3 min to get back in before your slot is given to somebody who has been waiting in the queue. Again, this is just a polite suggestion :-).
Wouldn't be easier to split parts of the server into different maps/worlds? :huh.gif: that way you still have the tranportation/teleportation and there will be groups of people on several maps, not a gazillion people in one area :tongue.gif:
it would be similar to what they do to classic servers :cool.gif:

That is a GREAT idea! I've been on a server that had a queue and it was so convenient because it gave you an idea of how long you had to wait and it was indeed like a very orderly line.
Hello, my name is kanokarob. I have been unable to get onto the server, so I built my whitelist build first try in single, using the Pangea pack of course. Since I couldn't get on, I went to the wiki and it suggested I post some screenshots here. So here goes:
This is a simple image, showing the whole boat and figurehead.
This picture shows a better view of the wings of the boat, as well as the deck.
Here, we get a close up shot of the waving flag.
This shows the cargo hold.
A picture of the Captain's Quarters.
Another shot of the Captain's Quarters, showing the story of how the ship went from a two-man fishing trawler, to a winged boat blessed by angels, to a national landmark.
Please not this was made entirely by hand, without the use of any mods other than flymod, and all materials came from my own personal box of infinite materials.
I hope this is enough to at least be reviewed. If this does fail :sad.gif: , I have another build built I would be delighted to show you. :biggrin.gif: (Please ignore the other builds in the background.)

The server is up free of charge for everyone to visit and play on. We don't charge people to use any of the plugins we develop, or give any donation ranks out to people (because then we would lose quality of what makes us - us.)
For you guys to complain about not being able to get on at the exact moment YOU want on, is sort of harsh. Have you done anything to help with our server upkeep and costs? Our staff is human, and we're here to play Minecraft, and make cool things just as much as you are.

Our world DOES have multidimensional support. There are no issues with this, as we are quite spread out around the world. While you guests log on, those of us who do play here are doing heavy development on our own projects, which takes up a majority of the slots available for players. Our own members will ALWAYS have priority on the server to work on their projects. Feel left out? Should have taken the time to find us a lot sooner than just a few days ago :wink.gif:
Those were air shots, but the plane CAN be built in a airfield.
Also, there were 2 VoxelFoxes sighted during building, and there is a lava lake in that cave in the lower left of the 1st shot.
Also, that is a LOT of guests on that server... (Hope I get member!)
-Tackeart, also Tackeart ingame
Your build is nothing but...less than 30 blocks placed on a cross midair. I advise you to look at the photostream on our website (www.thevoxelbox.com), tour our server, or view some of the teaser trailers on our Youtube Channel, so that you can see what quality of builds we are looking for from people.

Your ship is flat on all sides, going straight down the sides, and on the bottom. You're lacking any definable shape for the hull other than "box". The sails themselves are flat and show no movement or design other than "straight up and down lines". The decorative things on the ship itself are almost as big as the boat itself.
Looking inside the boat in your first interior shot, you have design inconsistencies with flooring coming through the top of the ceiling.
You need to tour our server (or our photo stream on our site) to see the quality of builds we accept for "vehicle" style builds, as this is far too simple to be comparable to what we accept.

Alright here is my build for whitelist. It took me approximately 7 hours.
It is a sort of monument, do not take it as a temple since it lacks the features of a temple.
as you can see, I have put a good deal of effort into this design.
I built this on my Single Player for inability to access server.
Used Flymod and TMI to build. Nothing else.
I cleared out a spot with WorldEdit but that's it.
Thank you,
Cameroni101
I'd like to submit my build for whitelist consideration!
Here is the link to download my submission schematic for the whitelist ( as instructed by Ridgedog ) : http://www.mediafire.com/?v79dxidb6n2cqlf
It does not look good at all unless you use the Pangea texture pack.
Here are some pictures of the submission which is an airship! :
My IGN is DKWON
For an airship, your wings coming out of the sides are very static, they don't show any movement or "hovering" of keeping the build in the air. With a balloon style you can show how it works by making them "filled", but with your design, the flat wings straight out 90 degrees from the ship aren't possible. For the deck and ship itself, there is wood, wood, and more wood, with no real breakup in materials or design. Building at a small scale on vehicles typically gives you a flat look in design.
It is far too basic to be considered for whitelist, you should check out the vehicles we have existing on the server already as they are quite high quality (and some of them built within the Daro actually). Whitelist builds should be something that have as much detail and consideration as possible when planning them out.

Okay thank you! I will work on my next submission right away! However it will be on a much grander and spectacular airship.

The outside of the structure is completely flat and 2d. It really feels like nothing more than a platform with a few external lines thrown up as an afterthought. The statue itself is a full out cube in terms of head/body/arms. Looking at the front/back view of the body, its a flat plane with boxes sticking out of it for arms and legs. Doing more organic type structures require typically far more details for them to turn out properly. Working with 90 degree angles in a build that scale will just make your structures look too blocky to denote much detail. I'm not saying to build this same thing 3x bigger, as size will not help you improve unless you learn how to more properly curve and work proportions.
As is though, this is not something that's really whitelistable. If you want to focus on organic structures, start work on learning what correct proportions and scale are in relation to your build (arms to legs to torso, etc).
