For those of you not following, there was recently a contest hosted over at Worth1000 where Minecraft builds were uploaded, voted upon, and the winners got free minecraft accounts. Our very own Featherblade has 2 entries in the top 10 (out of 250) and actually won a prize of a free minecraft account coming in at 5th place in voting with his ship "Le n'gociant".
As everyone knows, voting systems are 90% ******** and 10% idle clicking, it is simply too easy to manipulate. What speaks wonders about the outcome of this contest is that Featherblade's ship was awarded First Place by the adjudicator "JaxomLOTUS" Including a personal message about the build!

"The attention to detail here is magnificent. Whereas other models of ships might be content, this entry painstakingly even reproduced the correct angles of the sails and even made them windswept - no small feat in a world made out of cubes."
hear, hear! really nice, FB. every time i pull up into the harbor and see the sails on that ship, i do have a jaw-dropping smile on my face.
With Featherblade having 2 builds in the top 10, and Deamon's library coming in at 11th, it's probably a good thing you didn't enter as well plusnine, between the three of you there wouldn't have been any other winners. Hundreds of voters would leave the site, jaded to every other thing they built, and then likely fall into a deep depression. or something.
I actually found this server via that contest, since I kept seeing so many top entries with the words "built on VoxelBox." Now *ahem* would you kindly get the server open to guests again so we Americans can make the most of our holiday weekend? Much appreciated :smile.gif:

we are working on it. like most full-featured servers that allow guests, the patch knocked nearly everything completely out from under us. it takes time for plugins to be developed and adapted, installed and tested and we've only had a few days to fix things. and we do have, you know, wives and pets and other things in our lives that wither and die if they are not given proper attention. some of us even try to sleep a few hours a day.
Heh, didn't mean to whine there. My friends and I are also trying to get our server back up to full speed after the patch, so I know what a headache it can be; I just thought a well-placed Bioshock reference would compel you all to leave your wives/pets/assorted witherables so that you can work that much faster.

Don't worry, I'm not taking it as whining, I will say that I am trying my darndest to make this happen, I have high hopes that this will happen today, In at the very least a limited respect (where guests can get on, explore and fraternize, but not build). Hopefully we'll have our full guest plugin today as well.
I get off work in 4 hours. I will begin testing/upgrading/ sorting out issues in earnest at that time. this doesn't mean the server will be up in 4 hours, just that that's when i will begin working on it.
I will accept this as an oral contract that once I get the guest plugin up you will be bringing your friends in as well. I can move any building of any size from any map in to our current server with ease. Pleasure doing business with you.

nicolas, I talked to ridge, as soon as he gets back you'll be whitelisted. I'm not promising that the server will be up, however, as we'll have to test a lot of plugins...

Derp, its actually my fault on the most part that the server isnt yet open to the public. I'll port VoxelGuest right now. But it won't be instaled until Ridge gets home :tongue.gif:

Also, may I suggest updating the survival pack even though survival is suspended currently?
HA! I was there for mere moments and I still managed a Photobomb. Sometimes I amaze even myself.
although, it is a testament to the awesomenitude of these images that I haven't even noticed until now.
