Hey, just posting on this thread to show my support. Minecraft Radio is a great idea, and I'm pestering all my friends to spread the word about it. I hope Minecraft Radio gains more popularity!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
On June 29th, 2010, I purchased Minecraft. In the almost two years since, I have had countless adventures adventures, created many worlds, and have watched the game grow and change. To this day, it remains my favorite game.
Remember to listen in, we are always changing DJ's with different music preferences, so there is music for everyone to enjoy!
I wouldn't really count on that.
The music there is very rock/metal style. It feels more like a generic radio station but with a different name and a host that sometime mention Minecraft, than a real Minecraft radio station. I don't know if it's always like this, but I've been listening to this station for 2-3 days now and that's how it seems like.
Not that i have anything against it, but i'm guessing that many people find that techno/rock music very out of theme. This is suppose to be a radio station to listen to while playing Minecraft, but it lacks that "medieval" feeling the normal Minecraft music gives. All these swords and castles and arrow-shooting skeletons, along with very relaxing gameplay (usually) and digging and building just don't fit well with electric guitars and beeping.
I'm not asking you to turn into some gay "Le-Oldie" music station with Beethoven's 9th symphony and **** like that, just put on stuff you'd like to hear while playing Minecraft (Examples: , ).
EDIT:
This is also probably the main reason why you don't get many listeners. I told about you guys to all of my Steam friends that play Minecraft, and most of which just checked you out and returned to me saying "that's cool, but not my style" or "it's nice, but i'm not going to listen to it while playing Minecraft".
It seems like you don't understand who your audience are. If people listen to a Minecraft radio station, that usually means they want a radio station that relates to Minecraft in more things then just the name and logo, and preferably a radio station that puts on songs to play Minecraft with.
I'm sure that there are people who do enjoy it as it is (like me), but most will just stay away from it.
I will try to put in some soft rock, and more mellow music when I cast. Thanks for your feedback, it will help us attract more listeners. I'm not saying we will stop all of our metal and rock, or techno, but I will try to play some softer music more often.
Oldie I really hate to burst your bubble. But Minecraft Radio caters to all ages. And if you sum it up this is what it comes down to. 0-12 13-19 20-50 and 50+. The majority of are viewers are going to be between 10 and 50. Which ends up factoring down even more to 10-40. The majority of people these day enjoy rock, punk, rap and various other heavier things. Country is no longer a preferred genre when it comes to a radio. Thats why you only find one or two radio stations in your car that play such things, while all the others pertain to a rap and rock audience. I play softer rock, and its been obvious as compared to the other DJs. You just happen to turn in at the wrong moment. Last night I played an hour of nothing but songs that put people to sleep. So merely because you want something different or would prefer another doesnt mean that it doesnt get played. Maybe you are logging in at the wrong times. Not to mention, you have to look at the times of which we are in. Oldies are no longer being made, country is slowly dieing out, and rap/rock/ect. are becoming the major genres. When you go to a store and look at their music, what do you see more of? Not to mention the people who listen to the calmer stuff such as oldies and country are becoming older, and some are even passing away. 20 years from now, oldies are going to be such bands like Anberlin, Shinedown, and various other rock bands. I do try to play softer things, like today, someone in the shoutbox requested softer songs, and as a result i played about 15 minutes worth. Just tune in at different times. we dont sit to one genre but we cant exactly play all of the same type either.
And if you cant join us at different times, then I do apologize. This is minecraft radio, and we do try to suit the needs of our listeners. Hopfully a soft song or two plays while your listening.
First thanks to everybody enjoying and supporting MinecraftRadio.com
Its been an extremely busy week, and we are now up and running with many new DJ's that play various types of music.
We have many different modules planned for the future including minecraft podcast and also interviews with minecrafters. This is a minecraft radio and it also caters for general gamers, We are doing our best to make this as much minecraft related as anything, but as i'm sure you can imagen its hard getting everything perfect in 2 days :smile.gif:.
Keep listening as it only gets better, We are planning a dedicated minecraft radio server for all listeners to play on and enjoy together and like i say, many great things are coming down the line. We provide a different experience than just plain forums, and its nice and friendly.
Please bare with us while we fine tune all our broadcasts, but of course we are playing music and being minecrafty so tune in now and say hi :smile.gif:.
