My enjoyment of Paolini is compromised by realising how unoriginal a lot of his writing is :L Have you read Trudi Canavan's books?
Oh, I see XD Square, you say? I suppose it's the easiest option. Circles on that scale are pretty much out of the question, but what about an octagon?
Haha, statues are harder than I thought And let's try not to be too vain XD I think perhaps it would be unfair to place important landmarks (Great Library, monument, magical academy etc) in any one quadrant, so each one could be on the border between two? Or there could be a central area around the main tower, a sort of sanctuary?
I had another idea for Mithallion. Even the greatest Mages will need supplies; so why don't we encourage non-mages to come to the city? They could farm, mine and craft for us in return for our protection and magical aid. We could have small farms and cottages outside the city walls for them.
Why, my good sir, I am well versed in the tongue of the Anglo-Saxons. A knave, sir? I think not! Thou'rt the knave, if knave there be.
O_o an octagon you say? That could be possible, depending on how big the city will be. Just a thought, but would a pentagram be possible?
A central area sounds fantastic. We could have all the shops and such in that area, whereas the quadrants could be used entirely for housing. In which case, I'd have to redraw my map ._.
That sounds fantastic, as well as most likely vital to the Mithallion's success. Being mages, we're probably too lazy to move preoccupied by reading magic tomes or practicing spells, so we'd need people who can gather supplies, and maybe even trusted people to fetch magical reagents
I was going for Pulp Fiction there ENGLISH, MOFO! DO YOU SPEAK IT!
Statues can't be that hard D: We're made of cubes and rectangular prisms. We can have generic MC like figures made of stone, with small name tags at the bottom And I love how we're discussing having statues of people that technically never existed in this world... unless my cunning plan with character creation works If it does, then FIIRAL SHALL RISE AGAIN!
I think shops should go in the quadrants too. But the most important buildings should be in the 'sanctuary'. We could have several layers to the city, though, like concentric squares.
And I was going for Shakespeare XD
I've made a couple of MC character-style statues in creative mode, and they're simple enough to do, but they'll have to be pretty big. And I thought you meant our new characters!
But what do you think of my suggestion? I would be more than happy to be Mithallion's leader.
But...but... Fullmetal Alchemist... Whatever XD
That could work for the shops and such.
No, our old ones! We'd be the "gods" of the city Falchion could be like Asgard to the new world! See? I get good ideas sometimes ;3
Before we get into any of us ruling, we need to have the ideas for the quadrants set in stone. How are they going to work? Will we have, just one ruler for each quadrant? Or will we go along with the alternate elements idea? As in Wind and Lightning, Water and Ice, Fire and Magma(or something of the sorts), Earth and...nature? I'd personally like to be one of Mithallion's leaders, as well. If not just for the sheer fact that I'd get a sexy title.
Also, two ideas. First, we could have the four or so rulers of Mithallion given special titles. This would leave Archmage available to Mages who have proven themselves to posses skills beyond that of their peers.
Second idea: For each section of the city, we could add something significant, that marks it out as a quadrant, because we can't exactly make the city out of wool, now can we? For the different quadrants, we should add something noticeably...noticeable. Like a massive tree(think of Yggdrasil) in the Earth section, make the streets water(like Venice!) in the Water section, stuff like that. Maybe a bunch of lava-falls in the Fire section?
Also, my next post shall probably be my last. I'm going to make a new account on MC forums. Don't give a damn, 42 posts is special.
*edit* I'm so going to write it in Swedish or Runic
Glad to see things are working out. Sorta. Anyway, for the beta testing, is it ok if I just use my old Wisteria app again? I loved the character and how he worked so I really wanna use him again. I'll probably need to edit the app a little to fit with the new project.
Don't know why, but I wanted to post this again from yesterday.
An interesting idea XD I'm not sure what Ghosthands/Tathar would think of that...
I agree. It may be that we don't need a single leader, but a High Council of four. I love your Yggdrasil/Venice idea, and I think you've paired up the Primary and Secondary Elements perfectly. I was just about to suggest the exact same pairings I assume you'd want wind/lightning? I'll have water/ice Lava falls would probably work; any ideas for Wind? You could have, I dunno, some big pit, with the houses built on floating platforms?
We should also think about what biome we want the city to be in. There are some we can probably rule out - Desert, Ocean and Jungle, for example, wouldn't work. Plains might be a little boring; Forest is cool, but it might make it a little too hard to see/easy to attack by surprise. Mountains could be a little too extreme; and Tundra and Taiga are awesome, but they might bias the elementalism a little towards Ice. I think Hills might be our best bet, but even that might make construction difficult...any thoughts?
Make sure you tell me your new username 42 is cool XD And so is Runic! I can write Elder Futhark

Cries... not at 42 posts any more D,:
Ghosthands, I actually think we sould go with the circle idea. I was messing around with world edit, and I realized we could make not one massive circle, but rather a whole bunch of smaller ones put together. It would make it a little harder to map out, but look a lot better then just a massive square.
He wasnt even there during our fight. you lost to us and we RPd the crap out of your death.
BUT WHO CARES. youre banned from the new server anyway so just get out of here.
So character information will be released this weekend right? today? or tomorrow?
No one ever said i was banned from the new serverI hope there is a dragon humanoid(a Flying One) race instead of a dragon human hybrid it would be much cooler
Bio - He was born in the middle of the forest, by the age and 5 he could hit the center of an archery target. Being born in the wild he had to learn fast. He knows everything he needs to know about survival but he was never that great at melee fighting. His archery was perfect but he could never really fight hand-to-hand.
Strengths - great at archery and survival to the finish
Weaknesses - Can't stand up to a melee fighter and prefers the night
Hmm, I'm not sure...I think a square or octagon would work better.
As to the biome problem, I think trying to put Mithallion on the border of two or more biomes is the best bet. If possible, a border between a forest and a tundra would probably be best, so that we get the grass and trees in the Earth section to be the lushest green possible, and meanwhile have snow in the Air and Water quadrants. And I'd rather just build the canals myself, tbh XD
Another note - do you think we should have Snow and Iron Golems wandering the city?
I'm already planning how to build my tower - I warn you, it'll be pretty tall XD
Oh, and I have a question for Demon - will we have to learn all our spells, or will Mage characters be allowed to start out with certain spells?
Whichever. As long as it looks good, everything's OK!
That works for me
If Demon will allow us to have them, then that's an amazing idea. The better defender I can think of would be an Ender dragon in the central tower XD
The bigger the better! What are you making it out of? When it's made in the new world, we need to know what we're making it out of Personally, I think we should do stone slabs for the walls, and netherbrick for the roof. Any opinion on the matter?
And I got an idea for the Wind section- have everything just sort of float for no explicable reason
Also, doth thou have Skype?(back to old english again :D) It'd make this whole "Planning Mithallion" idea a hell of a lot easier.
He doesn't have to allow us to have them. We can make them ourselves!
I have a bit of a thing for stone bricks and birch. Each Archmage should build their tower out of whatever they want, but I'm not sure what we should make the central, 'main' tower out of. Stone slabs sounds nice, but I think it would be cool to give it an Orthanc-style top, with maybe two spires?
Sounds good to me Several floating platforms would be cool. Oh, and do you think we should make it so only mages get houses inside the city walls, in the quadrants, and the peasants helping hands live in cottages outside, near the farm(s) and mine(s)?
FIrst off... OMG I almost fell off my chair from that peasants helping hands thing XD
Ok, now that that's out of my system, back to work.
On Falchion, a few people, myself proudly included, apparently almost got banned for making an Iron Golem. Thats my concern. But if it's alright with Demon, then it's all good
Me Gusta the each archmage to him/herself in building towers idea. That way your tower would reflect directly on your element. Like having a central pillar of lava. Or making the thing out of ice. I'm going to mess around on minecraft and see what material looks best. Right now, though, I'm thinking obsidian(cause it's purple),stone slabs, or make it look old and use mossy brick/cobblestone. 2 spires would look awesome.
I think the "peasants helping hands" should either have a small little housing area under the city or something of the sorts, or, like you said, live near where they work.
When exactly did we say we were going to 'divide the land'? We just want to build a city for mages. We never said anything about land - wizards aren't the dominating sort. Feel free to carve out your own little empire.
I disagree. Wizards are dominating force depending on what your looking at. An example would Warlock: Master of the Arcane.
I have strong dislikes against some of the things Team Mojang has added to the game such Testificates. The reason why you couldn't make Iron Golems is because they look like them. This time I think we just aren't going to do snow golems and testificates, but we'll allow iron golems most likely. I highly doubt that there will be many once you find out the map and the story. Your not going to want to use your resources on them.
Yay someone agrees
I think i might make a basic skin for them
how could this even be possible? the reason the Dracan were a good choice was because they wouldn't over power other people. how would you make a dragon is race and not have it over power others? how is it possible?
anyways, it would be derpy not to let them fly also. which they wouldn't allow, like the fae.

I agree, because just a human race with scales and reptile eyes... it isn't as cool as a Dragon Human like the one you're depicting.
Yay someone agrees
