i really dont like a master admin cause most of the time i see this alot don't think im trying to say anything bad im not they mostly get abusive with there admin powers and start to ignore other people on how they should do there job and ignore suggestions and just try to control everything ive seen this happen alot
Couldn't agree more. That's why I want to find others who will administer the server including me, only because of technical experience, and whoever owns the server. We will have to make sure that powers are set fairly.
- Currency system
- Whitelist, yes or no?
- Player cap
Currency System - iConomy, the paper thing sounds like a lot of work and custom coding that none of us can really do. iConomy is prebuilt and easy to use.
Whitelist - I think we should have the server open for anyone but they cannot build until they fill out a builders application, like I stated in my previous post. That way people can see the server, and if they like they can apply.
Player Cap - This depends entirely on the server capabilities. Once we have firmly decided on a host and the hardware and once the world is actually created and fully configured. Then I think we can worry about this issue. Until then we will keep the IP private and keep a with only the people working on the server on it.
I would like to be an admin im not gonna beg its just yes or no I think I would be a good admin but my opinion really isn't gonna help only if you agree to it im not gonna fight about it if im not one
Economy: iConomy.
Whitelist: Same as Zerodlocke said.
POP Cap: Whatever doesn't lag.
I'd like to be an Admin as well, and feel that my experience would make me a good candidate for an Admin position, but if I am rejected I'll just go back into my corner and continue building large cities.
As for deciding who becomes admins and who doesn't, I'd say that whoever is running the current server should get to decide the admins that maintain it. There is no one here to decide who the admins will be, so I feel that this would be best.
Hi! I'm Rapeghost :tongue.gif: I'd like to offer my advice and services!
I've been a forum admin, started my own forum, been an event builder on a few MC servers, a mod in a few other games as well as am a very dedicated/active player.
After reading your forum I really like where this is going and first before I lay my thoughts on the board let me answer some of your thoughts:
So far we have decided on:
- Survival server -
Yes make it as survival as possible open world pvp, non lockable chests (maybe one per person), clans, make it so people have to work together to survive
- Item spawning for group projects, otherwise working for items -
I would love to apply as a moderator/event builder (more on this later)
- Permission groups (tiers) - elaborate further, this is something that can create jealousy and "power trips" among people.
- Possibly a name and logo - yes (especially since advertising is crucial to survival)
Some things we still need to decide on:
- Who hosts the server
- General permissions (flying, admin commands, etc.) - admins and mods exclusively, donation privileges can be worked out later.
- Plugins to use - Look at other successful servers. iCononmy, MCMMO, all the such.
So as a player if I were to player this server the ideal server to me would be:
It would be an open ended survival server based on pvp. Event builders would build secret locations around the world (secret shrine guarded with traps with a treasure chest at the end or a stronghold full of monsters). this will stimulate exploration and territorial control among clans. There would be events every so often, maybe even allow guild wars where clan areas are protected except at certain planned times where there buildings can be destroyed. This server would have a white list but with someone actively moderating and updating the white list. Semi RP would be ideal but this is preferable since not all are proficient at typing.
Just my 2cents and if you accept me as an event builder I have so many fun ideas :biggrin.gif:. I've made some pretty cool hidden stuff maybe I can dig up some ss's.
You dont really get a say in how ravroid chooses admins. Besides choosing simply by who posts their IGN first and not judging someones maturity level and seeing if he thinks they would benefit the server would be just plain stupid to even suggest. Sorry, dont mean to hurt your feelings.....

I feel that, maybe tier the admins with one super admin and let him weed out the good and the bad?
I can tell you I'm 23 and well an expert troll, not here to troll at all.

It sounds like you have a lot to offer, so thank you for taking interest, and welcome.

I like the idea of a survival server. We will have to decide on the lockable chests, as I like the idea, but it may inconvenience a lot of players who are not fully intent on participating in pvp. Another member mentioned factions and pvp, and I also think that it is not a bad idea. Your ideas would definitely make the server more interesting and competitive, so we will all have to take this into consideration.

I am for the pvp/survival, like I said. The secret locations would be great, I like the idea because it would allow group-building projects and a fun feature to the server, so I hope that others will agree on the idea. Events would also be great, and I would strongly be for it if you and whoever else were to take charge of that. If the server were to be a survival and pvp server, then I can see how leaving it open would conflict; players who are just checking things out would potentially get in the way.
I would be more than happy to have you as a part of our server, as I'm sure other will too.
Im not really for pvp because you get alot of people complaining about they got killed by someone or they just whine about how they want all there stuff back cause someone took it from them cause they were killed by that person and they continue to do this for along time

I also vote iConomy, as it has wide compatibility with plugins and is well supported with Bukkit.
Whitelist:
ZeroDelocke's reasoning is identical to mine, so I'm not in favor of a whitelist.

Indifferent.
