There's something off about this entire situation...
Welcome to Dusk.
Fourth Planet in the Vertex-5 system, the Exploratory Corps were called in after a UTR scout ship happened upon it. Strangely out of Modus Operandi for the UTR, they began the terraforming process before the Exploratory Corps had even reached the system, and as such it is ready for colonisation upon the ECS-Edinburgh's arrival.
Your brief is fairly simple, and your training went as well as you could hope. You and the other members of the Dusk Colonists are to establish basic infrastructure for the planet, in preparation for expansion to the world. It's not easy work, it's not safe work, but damn does it pay.
It seems like any Type 2 world. Freshly terraformed, breathable air, livable temperature, and a now working ecosystem. The only defining feature is the strange electrical field in the lower reaches of the Stratosphere, which while poses no physical danger to ships, blocks any and all communication from the surface to orbit.
That... And the fact that the UTR maintains a high level of military presence in orbit, completely unheard of in past colonisation stages. Rumours abound about the nature of their continued presence, but noone knows the truth, at least within the Dusk Colonists.
For now, you feel somewhat safe in the thought that if anything goes wrong, there's an entire army above you ready to swoop down and help at any time.
But... Is that a cause for safety, or worry?
Sick of restrictive roleplay servers where you're given a task and are expected to do nothing else?
New Horizons features a complete lack of a class system, allowing you to craft your character into whatever you want.
Be a part of a full roleplay environment!
New Horizons works on a strictly In Context game chat. Barring emergencies, you won't see a single word of OORP/OOC in game to break the immersion! (An skype chat [IM only] is supplied for OOC chatter)
Explore and create a rich universe!
The New Horizons universe has been lovingly created by myself, and being a stickler for expanded universes, there's always a new tidbit of Roleplay background to be revealed. Did you know the first governer of Mars was Gerald Hamden? Pointlessly immersive! I'm always open to submissions to be put into the 'Official Lore', so run 'em by me!
Dedicated Story and Roleplay Forum!
An entire subforum devoted to your character biographies, stories set in the New Horizons universe, and even forum roleplay if that takes your fancy!
If this has taken your fancy, head on over to New Horizons forum and join the community!
And if you need anything at all, feel free to drop me a PM!
Oh, I totally forgot; here's a pic of the MHMD-3711 Orbital Drop Habitat Module (forums won't let me make an image of it >_>), which will be your new home for a period of time should you choose to join us!
