Ok. seeing as we can only ever have 10 tnt on a map (without a custom or hacked map) I think that we should think of the best use of tnt.
mine:
Making a pit.
1. Find a nice grassy area. Make a 3x1 hole then jump in.
2. Make a 2x1 hole next to it.
3. Jump up and place two blocks underneath yourself.
4. Place a tnt in the hole.
5. hit the tnt.
This should make a 4x4x4 pit at the least (unless you did it in sand, or rock). can be used for make-shift traps or building a bunker.
1: Make a map in survival mode, save it.
2: Open it in single player creative mode
3: Add as much TNT as you desire, save the map
4: Open in survival mode
=)
I used this technique to add a ring of TNT under the ground forming a ring around my mountain where my house stands in survival, and then I led it underground up to my house. So if you press the TNT in the house, it falls down to the base of the mountain and ignites the others in succession, so the entire perimeter around the mountain explodes, akin to I Am Legend. Just in case....
Well i use TNT as a backup guard system. I have the bombs in the walls and floors so when a large amount of enemys are comeing i would hit it and go down the stone steps and wait for it to explode. Then i kill the left overs

.... thats sorta of exploiting the game. I meant to do this with only the tnt that you start with.
^ Which is probably a change that will be coming shortly. The explosion was copied from the creeper explosion, but I think there's enough interest that Notch will give it a bit more "oomph" in the next update.

I'd hope there could still be creeper-grade dynamite.

I agree. There should be a stone-breaking type, and a lesser powerful type like we currently have.
Maybe Mining Charges, Creeper-Grade TNT and [something else]
Obviously, Mining Charges are to be used for mining and could possibly have seperate detonators that replace the block itself when you place one. This way you couldn't make an entire wall of them because you could only have one existing at a time.

Talent didn't go anywhere, it just gets lost in all the noise. You have to find it.
I made a fort,And I lined it with tnt,It was filled with stuffs at the bottom like gold,Iron, and Coal.I made a pit and filled part of it with tnt,Then I covered it with dirt,But mine does not work,Please tell me how to update it.PleasePleasePlease
In the /indev/, I like to make bridges across the floating islands using it. I make a long fuse before the bridge, and then race myself to see if I can get to the other side before falling to a greusome death.

Damn, where'd you get all that TNT? I can't even bridge most of the gaps with the 99 you start with...
I like loading random maps until I find one with large areas below water level. Then I set up a chain of TNT, make a huge canyon, and then open the floodgates at one end. Race to the other before the water engulfs you.
So, after hours of planning and alot of preemptive saving "just in case" i have an impenetrable fortress. At the end of my tunnel is a lavishly decorated room, with gold throne and all that. Once a large group of enemies storm in, hit the TNT,destroys the dirt filling in the tunnel with sand. Hours of work make it all worth it.
I once took my Water City map and insurted TONS of TNT in it. I made a TNT drop in my main base, on top of a mountain. I waited for there to be alot of mobs, then hit the TNT, and BOOM! The whole map went up in smokes, with water rushing in to fill the void. Scored alot of points, but only water and my little base remained afterwards. Sure was fun to watch, though. :biggrin.gif:

i found out an exelent way to mine tunnels or ore in indev/survival. since tnt now destroys rock, find a rock wall, dig 2 spaces into it from your eye level, stick in 1 tnt, then light it and back up. makes a near perfect tunnel everytime. :3

Use that pattern. It'll cut down TNT use and still make an effective deathtrap.
