Not sure if anyone else feels the same, but there should at least be an option to turn up the amount of enemies that spawn (I assume there will be in Multiplayer).
I feel like I'm hunting down enemies most of the time, rather than surviving against them...
Definitely. There should be difficulty settings. I'd suggest that they adjust mob density and player health.
Oh Hard, for example, there would be double or perhaps even triple the number of mobs, and the player would only have five hearts of health.
lol imagen if there was like quadruple =P that would crash my client even triple will i have a bad computer but for some reason i still get 100-120 fps=O

Can't get wood, eh? I think they make pills for that.
I'd recommend just having enemies respawn in certain places when out of the players view. Also, more difficult enemies, perhaps other humans that run the same speed as you and chase within a radius of 16 blocks instead of the current 8.
Some small, hard to hit enemies in swarms would add a challenge.
I'd think respawning enemies wouldn't be too hard. I mean, as it is, I do believe the game is able to tell what chunks of land are out of view due to the renderer and all, so theoretically, the game could just run through every chunk that's out of view every once in a while, and respawn new enemies in them. This could also possibly be configured to respawn enemies only above ground, and only until there are a certain amount of enemies total on the map (or possibly just above ground), so as to keep from having oceans of enemies to fight off.
Oh, and personally, I think the Creeper should just explode when it gets close enough to you, instead of headbutting you repeatedly. Makes more sense for the type of enemy that it is. And maybe make the explosion do a large amount of damage, but not enough to kill you outright at full health. Maybe 7 hearts? Something like that. That'd definitely make the Creeper a tougher enemy. Gotta watch out for them sneaking up on you and all.
The only problem with destroyable spawners is that it still leads to the possibility of no more enemies, if you destroy the spawners. And then the only things you need to worry about are surviving are lava, falls, and water. Oh, and accidentally closing the window... Ggrrr...

What creature could possibly survive through evolution by exploding when it gets close to its prey? Is that how they reproduce? Are there just little creeper spores everywhere!? Are they in my lungs!?!? OH GOD.

Skeleton's Grave Sight - Spawns Skeletons when there are less than X amount of skeletons on the map
Etc blah blah.
Huts can be destroyed but it is rather hard to.

I wouldn't listen to a thing I say. I'm probably insane.
It really is "survival" now.
