Alright. coal was hard to find the first few nights, but on the 5th night I managed to get situated, make a farm for food, and start terraforming. In my mines, I managed to find a large cave, and in it 5 diamonds, from which I made a shovel and pick.
My island is mob proof currently, as it is completely surrounded by a cactus wall, and I will be turning it into a lava moat lined with cactus soon.

Night 8: Running out of torches :/ Must find some coal, also first creeper and two spiders spawned last night. Made fishing rod and got first gunpowder. (Fishing rod because Halloween update is so close) Also I finished my house now isn't it cool?
And in next version make island bigger so mobs can spawn! And I love this map :tongue.gif:
I really like this :smile.gif: great job. Looks friendly almost
I had spent the past two days working on the exterior of my home, as I had no pick to get through the hard rock that was beneath my 'home.' Waiting for a tree to grow is very hard work, I must say.
Most of the dirt that I re-positioned around the core of my island has grown grass, which is very good as I'll need more grass to hold more plantlife as I go on.
I had positioned cacti around the entrance of my house in case any intruders come by, though my thoughts of this happening are going down by the day, as I've yet to see any life around here other than the vegetation.
The tree that I had planted grew to be 4 meters high, and had been very prosperous- giving me 6 saplings to plant and develop more trees. Now I play the waiting game again, for them.
Back inside, I used the wood I had gotten from my tree to make some new stone pickaxes to continue my mining. On this day, I found four iron veins and struck a coal-goldmine: I had found 24 coal! This will last me days, if not weeks!
Start of Day 5:
Last night I was mining underground when I heard movement from above. I went to go check it out, and when I got upstairs the movement got louder and.... closer... I looked out my entrance and there it was, a... well, I'm not really sure but it was a green monster.
That's it, I've decided that I'm not going to take this island much longer, on the eighth day I'm going to take what valuables I may have and escape this island to try and find something... somewhere...
I've made a calendar of sorts, to keep track of what day it is and how many I have left on this dreaded rock.
I'm digging deeper into my mining system and struck tons of iron, and gold! Gold! This is it, if I can get off of this island to some form of civilization I can become a wealthy man, I tell you! I can live off of this here!
Sadly, I have now come to hit some form of stone that no matter how hard I try I can't even chip it. Oh well, time to start in different directions. I'm going back up my system a few meters and I'll take a right... Later Day 6
I've been digging through my new system, and struck a good bit of iron, but then... then I started hears movement again... and I tried to ignore it and kept digging forward. It got louder... and I started hearing moaning... I tried to ignore it.
But, it just got louder and louder!
This... this is terrifying...
There's monsters... there must be dozens of them... many of them just like the one I saw outside of my house a few nights ago. Others appear to be decaying as they stand, there's a few... slimy ones... and some even seem to be nothing but bone as I hear their feet clatter.
What do I do!? Update:
I gave it all I had and used what I had to kill the monsters, there were at least 7! The slimy ones split and formed more tiny ones, though I had used sand to suffocate the tiny ones before they got close to me.
There's still moaning and clattering all around me... but I don't know where it could be from now, unless there's another cave near me.
There's gold and iron, and.... magma! Sadly, my pickaxe broke just before I find the mineral veins, so I must go back to my house to make another before I can mine these minerals, as weaker tools seem to destroy the ores beyond use.
Well, its been a week since I came to this island... and after seeing the terrors above, and especially underground, I can't take it anymore regardless how prosperous the soil is with all of this iron, gold, and whatever this red ore is. Its time to say goodbye to my shelter and escape to greater places; hopefully some form of civilization.
Dug a mineshaft around Day 2, all the way to bedrock, and decided to live around level 10 or so.
(About) a day later, I find 4 Diamond where my farm is, and a cave opening (which is behind me in this pic), that had 8 MORE Diamond literally just lying around.
Plenty of Iron, some Gold, but Coal runs out pretty quick down here...
I'm getting ready to go back to work on my main save file, and decided to go check out what else there is before I stopped playing on this one for now.
Day 0: Jumped from the plane into the water near a small island. Watched the plane continue almost beyond the horizon before it veered off and went down. Hopefully any monsters that were following will head for the plane and not for the island.
Night 0: Slept poorly, must remember to make something more bedlike tomorrow.
Day 1: Camera damaged, it doesn't always work. I may be able to get it working reliably again, but it's not a top priority right now. Managed to push down a small tree and collect saplings.
I can probably replant these, I'll likely need more wood later. Absolutely no sign of monsters here of course, so I decide to take it easy and move the sand around so I can look around more easily. Other resources: cactus, a bit of clay, and dirt. And water, water everywhere around. Probably not safe to drink.
Day 2: No sign of monsters all night long! Maybe I did escape their notice? I start digging down, hoping to find something to build a shelter with; this sunblock won't last forever. I don't burn as easily as some of the monsters in sunlight, but I still get crispy instead of tanning.
Shoot. I didn't escape after all, not entirely. Saw a couple of the skeleton monsters out in the ocean in the direction the plane went down. They don't see me, but what was I thinking? They don't catch fire in the sun when they're in the water! And I'm surrounded by water now...

@Castaway/... wtf? niiice...
Sorry for bad quality... GIF image :sad.gif:
BUT SHEEP!
there tends to be chunck errors. The game tries to create new land as you play. This will hopefully be fixed in the next one

Goodbye, shelter, maybe I'll come back one day.
PS: I took the cacti with me.
Update:
I already see land! Hurrah! This could be it!
This landmass is HUGE... and well.. uh... there's that. Going into the ocean.
Only problem is I have no clue how I'm going to get on this thing to start a home...

I'd better get that shelter going.
