I just spent my first night in the first house I ever built in Minecraft instead of drilling into a cave. I overlooked one thing; the fact that mobs jump in Minecarts. Now, if I look into the Garage, I see a skeleton and creeper riding my minecarts in circles and another creeper bouncing around the garage. They wouldn't get in there if I didn't have minecart systems circle my map. Anyway, if I go out, the first creeper detonates, destroying a good portion of the garage and first floor. Even if I find away around that, the skeleton shoots me and if I try to get it, the other creeper detonates and I have to rebuild the minecart controller and first floor. Any tips?
Find a way above the tracks and pour water. The water will break the tracks and then all you have to deal with are 2 creepers and a skeleton, no big deal with a solid sword.
It's even easier because one creeper and the skeleton would still be int he cart (I think), so they couldn't move.
On the other hand, you'd have to rebuild your garage tracks.

I tried a variation of your idea. I dug above and shot at the mobs. The creepers went down easily, and the skeleton and I had a good arching competition. It certainly gave me the rush that fighting mobs always does. anyways, thanks.

Maybe the OP doesn't want to 'cheat'?
