I took your idea and implanted it to my long range booster who goes to my desert biome that is very far away.
i did some modification to hide the booster behind a wall and here is the product :biggrin.gif:
sorry for my bad english its not my native language
I've seen natives with worse English.
Anyway: I've implemented it myself and I LOVE it!
One question about boosting in general, does the length of the boosting track matter when travelling long distances or do you get just as far using a short boost?
I think the reason it's not obvious to anybody but you is because it doesn't seem like it would get back to the top. That's a quark of the physics but it's still really, really awesome and I will probably use it fairly often once I need to get to other bases.
good work.
When I read this I facepalmed because I realized how close I was to achieving this. I actually had my booster cart going up and over the track just like that. I've also had it on my mind to make a booster with a door dropping a cart, but never put the two together ><
You can see the wiring I ran, and through the hole in the center, you can see the main track.
From the main track view, you can see the longer boost and its reset.
This is the block I added, to stop my cart on the returns, so it will be ready to go again when I need. My curser is on the button by my crosshairs.
Does anyone have any improvements that can offer?
Also 3 questions:
1. How could I incorporate a stone pressure plate, so I'd have to press the button while in the cart for it to launch?
2. Is it possible to add a torch that will be lit when the whole thing is reset and ready to boost?
3. The block I added to stop my momentum is kinda ugly. Does anyone have a better looking idea?
This booster can easily be used to start one of Bob's self resetting boosters. That booster can be used to launch carts out of a pez dispenser, and all of this can be automated and hidden underground.
This one booster solves so many problems at the same time. If I could transfer materials between worlds, I would be happy to give you all of my diamond, just for having created this.
Just saying that I love this booster. It's easy, fairly compact, and has predictable failure conditions (pretty much only if you don't have a to-boost cart waiting, as opposed to chunk unloading problems). It's also powerful enough to send me back to the surface from floor 12 (with a slightly longer track than in the video - didn't test with a shorter track).

1. AND gate
2. Yes, just place a wooden pressure plate on the space that the booster BELOW the door comes to rest on.
3. Yes, just make it flat and take a piece out of the rail and put a block on the opposite side of the rail as the booster to make it so you don't fly off.

Venit, quessit, induravit.
@Bleh Amazing work, such a simple & genius booster.

@ Bleh
Literally 2 days ago I spend 3 hours making a design for a press to go minecart station. And now this comes along and I can do it in 5 minutes.
As much as I hate you, I love you. This is awesome and deserves recognition.
This is the door booster, behind the wall.
