Switches have worked perfectly for me on version 1.2.6 on a server without mods.
Switches and all things redstone related have always worked. There were just a few graphics glitches. For instance, you had to place a torch next to redstone to get it to update, and you had to right-click iron doors while they were powered to open them. Other than that, it worked fine.
Nice lock but I don't even see the point in lever locks when there are button locks. I currently have a 9 digit button lock in which 4 button must be pressed in correct order and any incorrect press resets the whole thing.

Pretty good, but the thing I don't like about 9-button keypads is that you can't fit any more buttons/lever in and it makes a mess of wiring. But in the end, they look really good. It's a catch-22

actually, with 9 lever keypads all you have to do is make all the wires connect, the only downside is that without going 1 underground you have to have the center button have a torch behind it (down for the right combo).

have you even read the thread yet? =O
Yeah I read it. Levers just don't seem functional as locks :sad.gif: even though they are more compact. The fact you have to reset them all the time would drive me crazy.
@elmeerkat - very neat and tidy, but my choice for buttons have a similar basis as some mentioned in the thread. If I leave/enter my place - the last thing I want to remember is to reset my lock - most of the times I'd forget or just not bother, defeating the purpose of the lock.
However, if you are a really pedantic player, then the lever locks seem like a much simpler solution - you don't need the memory cells to remember which buttons were pressed.
@bleachisback I'm in the process of building your schematic to check it out. Will post some pics when done.

here it is
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5149816/nand%20gif.gif
it has four inputs (1,2,3,4 is the combo) and a reset. i have it built but i cant get screens right now
if you press any button out of order then press the whole combo in order without resetting it will not work
I decided to compact your design just a little bit:
The combo is 1-2-3-4-5-6-7.
