The Four Towers map is a attempt to create a story based Adventure. You wake up alone in a tower prison, you must escape, find your family and crush the tyranny. Follow the signs and have fun. Everything has been tested multiple times so it all should work. I built in save points so if you use a file or save manager use it. This one works good for me Treasurechest
This was not made to be easy. The only problems I encountered were created by those blasted creepers blowing the signs off the walls.
I recommend using this Texture Pack it is themed correctly. Recently added new mob skins made by Catgoth.
You should have several hours of game play if you play on anything but peaceful.
If you need help with map download or have texture questions see: Compendium
Here is the save Four Towers Chapter 1
Here is the save Four Towers Chapter 2 Again I think it makes more sense with the Texture pack above.
The ghasts have proven there metal, they are a pain. Again the only problems are when ghasts blow up signs or switchs. I tried to make it as ghast proof as possible but everything should work. Instructions: No need to add or place blocks, only remove those instructed. Use whatever you find in chests. You may remove as before wood, wool and clay if there is any. See Videos below.
It appears to be a very unique experience. The effort and time put into this must have been astounding, and my only fear is that it will not receive as much recognition/play time as it deserves. The entire concept has sort of been done before, in that survival/escape games have been made, but I think your's has a different feel about it.
Thanks for the positive feedback. Yes I do spend a lot of time on these maps, but I like doing it. I think this is part of the allure of Minecraft, completely open and anything possible. All you have to do is Imagine it.
I would be curious to see how long it takes from beginning to the end, if anybody actually gets that far.
First, I want to say that this looks amazing! I've only played it for a few minutes, but the video has me excited for what I haven't found yet.
I have a question about respawning, though---how exactly is it supposed to work? spoilers for the starting cell-block area:
The first time the zombies killed me, I respawned between the two mob spawners. I started a new game, got just as far, and died again, but respawned in a cell I hadn't seen before (with the "Thank you kind one" sign) and no apparent way out.
Works of art like this advance the possibilities of Minecraft. Ya ya, I know Skylands has been out forever in internet time but this beautiful. That video makes it seem like a whole other game.
fnv: The respawn point is located at the starting point. Not sure why its doing that. It put me on the roof a few times. When you manage to get out, open all the doors from the outside lol. I do recommend using the save points, it sucks losing your stuff and it can be along walk back.
Iriseon: Thanks I really appreciate that, Minecraft is definitely an A+ to me.
The spawn point isn't working for me either. I respawn on the roof.
Can't really play it right this way.
UPDATE: I recopied the save and played it again, and this time when I died I spawned in a spawner room where there were already dozens of zombies. There's nothing I can do but quit.
Just awhile ago I wondered if there were adventure makers out there.. and my journey already ends here!
Wreckage, what programs did you use to make that? so far i'm using MCEdit and thats a powerful program but I am very interested in making adventure maps. i'm making a generic dungeon adventure right now! But it will definitely not be as good as this.
I'm gonna play this right now, this looks AMAZING! This is a must play from the videos.
OK, I've been playing for a while, but now I'm stuck in the Processing place. What do I do?
You can climb up to the ground floor doors.
Stuck in the same place.. Could you explain a little more what to do?
There is a save point at the bottom of the ice tower, from there look on the walls you should see steps of snow to climb up, look for the double doors and your out.
Yeah, i found the doors right after i posted this.. :-P
Just finished the "game".. It's SO good. GREAT job with it! I really enjoyed it, though i had it on peaceful most of the time.. The mob spawners is just too difficult for me.. :-P
Keep up the GREAT work, and good luck on chapter 2!

The respawn point is not an exact science it seems to bounce around a bit. Try putting it on peaceful until you have opened all the doors on the prison level. Then it wont matter where it places you.
