Looks kinda cool, but one big problem with it is that it's only one-way. I guess you could just put another minecart on the outside (or make another exit-only lava door) but that seems a bit ugly.
Something that might work would be to have a raised exit (so no mobs can get to it) combined with a plunge pool to avoid damage. Though if you're not careful, the creepers might start hanging out in the pool...
There are a lot of ways to make it more than a one way door, without making it look ugly. I think I may make a text tutorial later on some ways to make the minecart outside not be ugly.
Thanks for watching guys, it was a bit long =/ I'll try to condense my next video.
Neat idea but you spent six minutes telling us something that should have taken one.
Watch this dude to see how a complex design idea can be taught in two minutes.
Well this was for my let's build series, it wasn't only about the Lava door, so that is why it is a bit longer. Other than that I do agree I dragged on a bit :/
Awesome idea! I tested this out in my SSP room and I found that it wasn't the best for killing mobs, but you could easily use this to hide valuables in SMP. The design can be modified in a few ways for saving space or whatever you prefer.
I made a 1 block entrance version that you could easily disguise as lava lighting yet have one of those lighting points as a secret entrance.

Sounds really cool :smile.gif: I was having trouble making a 1 block entrance what did you do?
This is my design for the popular Lava/Water Door. It's a very simple concept, but makes any house sexy.

Thanks for the tutorial.
But regular doors don't kill creepers!
They Can if your room is not lit up enough, but if it is well lighted you are fine. Neutral animals can only spawn on grass.

Happy 1,000 posts.
On topic, however, I will have to utilize this...somehow...Thanks for the video.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
