The Crafters of yore were the first to explore the world of Minecraft. They explored deep, high, and all around. With these experiences they forged into stone the commandments of future Minecrafters.
Commandments:
1. Thou Shalt Never Build Straight Down.
2. Thou Shalt Never Step Into The Void.
3. Thou Shalt Always Hug A Creeper.

The Books of Mobs, preface
The Division of Monsters.
And nearly as soon as the minions of the Elder Gods were sent out into the infinite world, they fell to infighting. The Skeletons claimed authority over the Zombies and Spiders, each too dimwitted to resist. The Creepers and the Slimes stood against the Skeletons, raising as an argument the Skeletons's weakness to the Sun's light. So great was the disagreement that the Skeletons separated themselves from the other minions, leaving the powerful Creepers in control of the Zombies, Spiders, and Slimes. Holding the same disdain for the nocturnal Zombies as they did for the Skeletons, the Creepers forced the Zombies from this circle. It is not uncommon to see Skeletons attack and fight other monsters, and Zombies are seen most often with only their kin nearby. Such is the division of monsters.
The Books of Predictions, preface
]" title="-<->" /> The Tome and the Quill ]" title="-<->" />
In the ages following the fall of Valemorth, the fiefs and tribes once ruled from the great fortress were wanting almost all resources. The snow came down more heavily than ever before, and the minions of the Elder Gods roamed rampant. As this was long before Minekind was bestowed the gifts of farming or archery, the tribes were most wanting a steady source of food. A man from the coldest, most northernmost tribe stepped forward to find a solution to the people's starvation.
The man, named Allias, quested for years in search of some new food source. Having exhausted nearly all options and avenues of exploration, he and his band of adventurers came upon the haunted ruins of Valemorth. The halls of the shattered palace still held the minions of the elder Gods, helped into this place by the Steel-Eyed-Man. Braving the danger, Allias (now known as Notch-Allias the Seeker) stormed the hordes of enemies and fought his way to the inner bastions of the castle, preserved beneath layers of rubble.
In one of the fortresses deepest chambers the Seeker found rows and rows of books, which were unknown to Minekind since the fall of the castle. In the books were the secrets of the past eras, the golden ages when all the land was ruled by one blade. Searching for days, Allias found no information that could aid the starving population. Coming to the last unopened book, he read the cover: THE BOOK OF TO COME. Notch, watching all that had happened, saw that Allias was unknowing of the book's power, and so he reached down and planted the idea in the Seeker's head. From a Zombie's garment Allias drew a long feather, which he dipped in a Spider's blood. The feather colored crimson, and allias began to write as Notch looked on with satisfaction. As the Seeker penned ideas and promises, his writs took shape; that is, as he wrote "farming be known to the people of the kingdom of Valemorth-Fallen", the people realized how to farm, and so on.
But Allias was not above betrayal, for he was but a mortal and susceptible to the Elder Gods's influence. In a way imitative of Notch, the Skeleton God reached up a bony finger and incited in Allias the vice of greed. the Seeker was overcome with a need for more than was his lot, and he began to write of self-serving things.
"Allias shall find diamond in all stone he shifts"
"Allias shall be made new ruler of all the Kingdom"
etc.
and Notch, seeing the terrible implications of such power in the hands of one mortal, turned the pages of the tome to Adminium, barring it's further use at the cost of cementing what had been written. It was in this way that farming was bestowed upon the tribesmen of Valemorth, who then carried with them far from the icy plains, and that the traitor-hero Allias constructed a tower of solid diamond in spite of Notch.
(Wow, that got longer than I intended )

..at first all things were Infinite, and the first of Minekind were set down by Notch and left to create or destroy as they saw fit. First of all Notch saw great palaces erected of glass and brick, and he saw mountains levelled, and oceans sponged away. But the architects of the glass palaces did not thank Notch for the power he had bestowed upon them, and instead thought that their power was their own. They grew egotistical and arrogant, rating their own works above the natural beauty rent by Notch when the world was formed. And in this time all was bright and warm, and the people did not thank Notch for that either.
Then Notch saw the grief caused by the arrogant architects and the fools, who were newly made and without the same drive to create. The fools learned only to create frustration, destroying the constructions of other Miners. So Notch sent down his Hero, and he said: "From now on only the world shall be infinite, and you miners shall have limits on your resources and your lives. The world and it's components will no longer yield to you so easily, and you shall need to learn how to shift harder materials with tools. These are secrets which you have not yet earned the keeping of. Such is the Word of Notch"

Scribe of Minecraft Mythology and History ]" title="-<->" />
When Notch first blessed the land with Water, the Minecraftians gave praise. Wheat, Reed, and Cacti were grown, as pools, bathhouses, and saunas were built. This water gave life, and for that Minecraftians were grateful. The Elder Gods took note of the Water, and sent agents to use it for malice. These agents were called Griefers, and they took advantage of the Water's properties for dark intent. At this stage in time water behaved differently, it spread to the sides, forward and down, not reacting to the force of Gravity it does today, spreading infinitely. The Griefers took advantage of this property and used it to flood cities and drown Minecraftians.
The Griefers spread across the land flooding village upon village, doing the work of the Elder Gods. A young king by the name of Durgos recognized the imbalance of the Water. He prayed to Notch to give the Minecraftians a tool to fight the Griefers, for their swords and bows could only kill so many Griefers, and their Buckets could only drain so much water. Notch acknowledged Durgos's prayers, and Notch blessed the Minecraftians with the Sponge. The Sponge allowed the Minecraftians to drain the Water from their flooded cities, and for this the Minecraftians were grateful.
The Elder Gods saw that the Sponge had rendered their Griefers useless, and therefore bestowed upon the Griefers the ability to Create and Destroy. The Griefers used their ability to Destroy to remove the Sponges which drained their Water, and their ability to Create to place Sponges and drain the lakes and oceans which gave life to the land.
Durgos saw the imbalance of the Sponges, and prayed to Notch once again. Notch saw the threat that the Griefers posed on the Minecraftians, and answered Durgos's prayers with the Ban Hammer. The Ban Hammer was a tool that caused Griefers and even Minecraftians of malicious intent to be banished to the realm of the Elder Gods. The Ban Hammer was given to the Kings of all the infinite worlds. The Kings began to Ban the Griefers from their lands. The Kings who wielded the Ban Hammer were given the name of Administrator, or Admin for short. The name was chosen after the unbreakable Adminium that lined the bottom of the world and of which the sword that Notch used to defeat the Elder Gods was made.
The Elder Gods saw their Griefers slain by the Ban Hammer, and created more and more Griefers. The Kings where soon overwhelmed by the Griefers that flooded their cities and drowned their Minecraftian citizens. Durgos saw the imbalance of the Griefers, the Water, the Sponges, and the numbers of the Griefers, and he prayed to Notch. Notch acknowledged the prayers of Durgos, and made the water Finite. When the Water was placed, it flowed from its source and eventually stopped. This made the efforts of the Griefers near futile. And the Minecraftians Praised Notch, and with the combined powers of the Finite water, the Ban Hammer, and the Sponge, the Griefers were near powerless. Once in a while a Griefer will show up, trying desperately to disrupt the world, and the Admins Ban the Griefer, and the Minecraftians praise the Admin, and the Admin praises Notch.
...The Ban Hammer was a tool that caused Griefers and even Minecraftians of malicious intent to cease to exist for all of eternity...
EDIT -- Not cease to exist: those who are unfortunate enough to earn the malice of those who wield the mighty ban hammer are exiled into the world of darkness beneath the adminium barrier, forced to share the same fate as the beast-gods in an eternal hell of nothingness.
