Anyone else getting java crashes and the game turns into a black screen that has to be force restarted? It's very sad. Because it seems every time it happens my physical location is saved, but many changes to the world and items in chests etc revert back a bit.
The last time it happened, I opened the game up and spawned inside of stone that I had previously mined. This caused me to die, losing a few diamond tools, gold, etc. It was sad

Do not get attached to your saves, seriously, stuff like this has happened before, if there's something you love and really want to build...Wait for release.
Yeah I really wish this issue could be sorted out. As far as I know it only happens when you have view distance on the farthest setting. But it doesn't happen for everyone for some reason. I have read of people fixing the problem by updating their video drivers and/or using a different java client. But niether of these seems to fix it for me so I am restricted to the second farthest view setting.
I have this happen several times a night in both MP and SP. Seems to happen most often when opening a chest or furnace but sometimes just randomly while skipping through the tulips.
In MP it's not too horrible, just reconnect and go on your way. In SP it's devastating since it rolls back the world sometimes hours. Also hitting ESC to "Saving level..." doesn't appear to save anything. Even clicking the Save and Exit to title does nothing, if you go right back in game and crash again you'll world revert back before the save.
My current "solution" to this problem is anytime I'm about to craft or open a crate (or have done a lot of stuff recently) I'll save and completely exit the game and come back. Didn't crash once last night, but of course it was a disjointed night of constant restarts (at least not because of a crash I guess).
I've not had to reinstall though. This happened both with vanilla client and one using a HD texture pack and BetterLight.
Well it happened again tonight... but it was an overall gain this time.
See, I had to rebuild a part of my new minecart track, but the other thing that rolled back when I BSoSed:
The chest I'd just emptied into my inventory of 5 diamond, 51 iron, 9 gold, one bucket, and 2 fish. It was still in my inventory when I re-spawned, and still in the chest :tongue.gif:

What is your BSoS story?

This time I had just emptied my inventory into chests. So... I lost all that stuff.
I hacked it back in with INVedit. Just to get back the stuff that the crash lost. I think that's fair.
Seriously? Nobody else has good BSoS stories?
