Question: Is there a specific logic between the spacing between each of your canals? It seems to change in the video from canal to canal.
Great work besides, although if Notch nerfs fall damage I'm going to rage.
Everything is pretty much improvised. Just have to make sure there's good spacing between them so monsters can spawn in groups of 3-4. I started by making a quarter and then i mirrored that quarter into the other 3.

I was afraid that might be the case was hoping you knew more then me on this one. Great contraption I'm going to have to consider either making my own or making some change to it and then making it.
Making something that size once already was annoying enough. Good thing I keep all my cobblestone.
Next question, I take it the area underground your trap is either lit up or unspawnable? I noticed it is mostly over ocean so I'm guessing that is probably the case.
EDIT: Looks like it, never mind.
Also is one shoot for a 75x75 space enough or do you notice them clogged up (honestly I think I'll just download your map for this one).
EDIT: Looks just fine, only problem is that the iron doors clog up the entrance however this doesn't seem to effect the drop rate since when they start to back up they seem to push the first ones out the door.
Also is the only reason you have the holding space below the 75x75 area is so you could add the blocker/door? Since I imagine you could just leave the center open and have them drop out however you'd loose the "shooting out the side" effect which was really cool when they were all held up.

Again, great job :happy.gif:
The tunnel below the spawning room is to bring mobs closer to the middle for a better show. This isn't very efficient, it's just for fun and for the video. I'll probably retool it to funnel the mobs into a lava trap so i can calculate the drops/hour.
So I decided to look at your world, seeing as I never had a succesful monster trap... but after reading a few comments, I was on my guard.
So my first death was from toying with TnT - never having had a monster spawner, I've never used it. Found a skelly spawner you missed :biggrin.gif:
My second death was shortly after respawning and re-gearing, loading up more TnT inside your cozy little home. I'm sitting there, licking my lips over the Tnt when I hear it: "Sssssss...". Green guy blew up a big chest, and the floor. Twas a long way down...
Tried to repair the floor, it's not my world, but I have this thing about making a mess. Heard more green guys, realized your little waterfall was delivering them, and left without making repairs. Went to explore, found a sign that said 'diamond mine' with an iron door guarding it and a switch. I thought to myself, "How can he possibly have a mine specific to diamonds? It must be just a name, lets hit the switch." When the door didn't open, the delayed reaction reminded me of a youtube video of a certain trap. The last thought to go through my mind before my death, "well played, well played."
I STILL haven't found your sky trap.
Edit: Omfg, I only just now realized after exploring more...
Dude, I've seen practically all your videos, you have the most amazing world ever! I thought it was several people, but no, it was YOU who built the animal cannon, the bridge of delayed death, and the monster/animal farm!! And now I'm in your world...
My world feels so much... quainter compared to yours.
Oop, almost day, time for adventure!
(You almost got me with the animation thing, but I saw it was built on gravel. You would have gotten me with the bridge, but I saw your video :tongue.gif:)

Goodness.... I just had a thought.... Creepers are like Daleks, they can Destroy everything that you know, Ever cared for, And even the whole of Reality....
We are all doomed.
If you are still looking for the sky trap, it's down with the animal & tree farm, just when you exit my base. You have to pass trough the nether to reach the biome where it's located. I did put lots of signs to help with that!
In the end i used cartographer and found it was much further north. I've never been to the nether, i would have expected to be a bit nearer to start off with though!
Think you could post a cartographer screenshot of my world here? I don't think i'll ever install it :tongue.gif: but i'm curious of what it looks like

I've found the animal and tree farm, but am having a heck of a time finding the portal to get to the nether. Or do I have to build one?
What is the shortest distance from the ground that it'll work and what is the smallest in the sky for it to work? Basically I'm asking how small and how short can you build this and still get away with a decent selection of stuff?

Even if you do figure this out, I wouldn't use this knowledge if I were you, make the caclulations needed and build it right up at the ceiling cap (or close to it) because if Notch ever messes with falling damage or anything else you may find yourself with monsters living through the fall.
@Every who is asking where it is. He is nice and he stopped that save right by a sign that says Sky Trap -> or something similar, it brings you to the nether which you find more signs in plain site which brings you outside again and the sky trap is right there. I find it hilarious how distracted everyone gets when they find something new.
cool traps... not the sky monster-trap thingy, that's awesome, but the ones that kill me... when i read the sign that says 'not a trap trust me'... i'm like uhhhh i don't think so mister... so i dug around the leveler and looked around for any IED's or spawners or holes to fall into and die, cuz you're a sneaky ninja... but alas, it wasn't a trap... well not a trap for me anyway... though i don't appreciate getting shoot at by falling skellies... that's some insane marksman to shoot someone while you're falling...
but your world had inspire me to build contraptions of horror of my own.... instead of a normal tower... i shall build a spiral... inside the 144X144 chunk of course... probably not as effective, but it'll be pretty to look at... and let face it... what the hell am i gonna do w/ 2000+ items...
on a different note... you can never truly appreciate the grand scale of minecraft until you see it on one of them mapper thingy, that sky cube is HUGE, but appears tiny on the map... think i'm gonna start a suicide walk around my world.... so how far i can get naked b4 something kills me....

1. Have one
2. No.

i said the EXACT same thing on my way down.

Completely epic world, btw.
Thanks! Some pretty weird map gen there. Must be because i made a portal from the nether, into unexplored land.

When I put signs that says "Not a trap", it's just to keep people paranoid.
