Man i just can't get over it.
I really have a hard time looking at cobblestone. Making clean stone is a pain in the ass and i didnt want to do that beacause i need a lot of them.
So i tried some skin packs to get rid of that cobblestone skin and it worked so i could keep building stuff with cobblestone.
Later i found out that the damn water and lava wasnt moving so i was forced to switch back cuz i was planning to use alot of water/lava around my building place.
However, all the stuff that i build looks now worse beacause i know how the good skin packs look like.
I really dont get it how ppl can make giant castles all over the map and not wanting a better skin when they look at it.
I often think about it when i walk by my stuff like this bridge that took me forever. it looks very out of place with the original skin.
Its not that bad when ur far away...
but when ur close to it... BANG! Looks like compressed Turds
Medieval flair my ass!
But of course maybe thats just me... but im curious if someone else has that problem...
I would also like to know if ther is a way to change that single texture...
sorry if my english isnt good enough for you :wink.gif:
Personaly I like how the cobblestone looks. I love all Medieval things. But your kinda like X I guess, can't stand the cobblestone. I guess just keep using skin packs.
You know cobble stone should become a different form of stone when kilned. Their is absolutely no reason what so ever to spend resources only to get a weaker stone.

You can go ahead and move at the speed of light, But i will move at the speed of darkness.
Put in 3 in the bottom row to make :_:. Then you can stack two to make 1 regular block....looks much nicer (and almost like clean stone) and doesn't waste coal.

Creepers are people who hide outside your window and touch themselves. Are we changing that name?
Cobblestone's graphic is actually one of the first (and the only to remain relatively unchanged) textures made in the game, dating back to when Minecraft only had two block types, Grass, and Stone (which at the time, used the texture currently used by cobblestone)! As a result, it looks slightly rougher compared to the rest, but so long as you add other block types so it doesn't stand out, it should look much more bearable.

Yes. Open minecraft.jar with 7-zip, WinRAR, etc., edit terrain.png in something (GIMP, Photoshop), and just modify the cobblestone portion of it.
You could copy your favorite cobblestone from another texture pack, resized if necessary, and paste it in.
Then drag the modified terrain.png into minecraft.jar.
I personally think the original textures suit the game just fine. They aren't SUPPOSED to look good, they're supposed to have a bit of a "retro", low-grade feel to them.

Cobblestone actually takes longer to mine than smoothstone, I'm pretty sure.
I remember testing it.

If you are about to make a rebuttal, consider responding to the entire post.
I'm the opposite, i can't stand looking at the screen shots from people using the texture packs. Most of the other stone textures I've seen have borders around blocks edges, it makes everything look really blocky. The default texture blends the blocks together nicely. Sometimes I have a hard time telling exactly how many cobblestone blocks there are in a row, without actually getting up close and counting them.
I recently made a big base that used a good chest full of stone, I had plenty of coal since my world seems to be chock full of 10-block veins of coal, so I made 10 furnaces and threw a stack in each one. If I got particularily impatient I just went and hunted sheep since I need the wool for the interior.
So all im saying, is if you have the patience to build such a badass structure as your bridge, you should also have the patience to wait a bit for the stone to smelt into clean stone. Really... it takes like 5m for a stack -.-
Well, here is one thing that I've learned. If you don't like it, fix it yourself. It's the only way anything will get done. :-/
what the hell are u talking about? i actually asked how I could solve this problem.
ive been reading here since a while... and ur always the one who has a post in each thread. only saying how you dont care about the problem and acting like a little jerk.
whats the matter? were ur parants mad at you?
Eh, I think it looks okay. It doesn't look as nice as clean stone, but it still has some charm to it. I just made my big lighthouse out of cobblestone, and I'm pretty satisfied with how it looks.
Fazotronic, thunder7110 wasn't trying to insult you, and he's right. You'll need to edit the texture yourself if you want it changed. That's all he's saying. So let's all take off our little jerk hats and chill the **** out.
Currently, Faz, only high resolution texture packs will stop the flowing water/lava animations. You can edit textures and keep them at 16x16 sizes and not have any of those bugs. There are several standard resolution textures in the Mapping and Modding section, and a guide on how to reskin it yourself. If you'd like a texture made for you, I made a masonry texture a while ago that you are welcome to copy and paste into your texture.

Check out Mixcraft, it has better cobblestone I think, but still keeps the regular water/lava/fire.
I just building everything out of dirt and sand.. Meh
