I tried something a bit different with this one. The main material is ice with an undercoating of various other materials to give it texture. It turns out it's hard to see and in some places it's thin enough to see through but generally I like it. The lights I made by re-texturing jack-o-lanterns which turned out great (except for melting all the ice near it) and I gave the ice a purplish tint while I was at it.
The model is roughly full scale at 250 meters. The figure of 460 meters or so has been floating around as an official size but there's no way that matches up with the external and internal shots from the show. 250 seems much more reasonable.
And this is an older project if you didn't see it. About 1/6 scale.
I might take a stab at a full scale Enterprise D next after a break. (Only 1000 meters or so, plus internals. Piece of cake.) Here's some quick testing:
I'll probably build it in two parts and worry about making or waiting for a solution for the height limit and view distance later. I still need a high-quality external model if anyone can point me to one.
For the love of all things block-shaped, share some build details.
Blocks used/time spent building/time spent planning/etc.
I have a fetish for plans and data, it seems.

It is the equivalent of saying
"We should add drug trafficking to the game to attract more Mexicans. I'm not saying that I'm racist, it is just that most Mexicans traffic drugs."

OH LORD. How long did that sh** take?
Let's see, about two weeks. Not counting the week I spent sick and listening to Rifftrax. Lots of extra time for the undercoating and manually messing with the plans so longer than it normally does. I think it was four solid days for the Shadow ship.
Zathras impressed with Swiffo. Could be good candidate for next caretaker of Great Machine.
Enterprise D? pfft. Star Trek is for children. Zathras challenges Swiffo to construct the station Babylon 5 in full scale!!

Relax. Take a deep breath. Everything's not going to be O.K.
Can't wait to see other projects of yours
For your next project try the Lexx ~10,000 meters or maybe a Galactic Empire Executor Class from SW at ~17,000 meters?
Well done.
