I was playing on wookies island survival and I decided to dig a 2x2 tunnel straight down
I soon hit one block of lava and I was like oh i'll fill this in later :biggrin.gif: I then proceeded to dig a branch sorta thing into the wall and I found about 20 diamond which is hard to find on island survival I was down there so long that I had forgot about the 1 square block of lava in my 2x2 tunnel and I fell in it and lost all of my diamond ore/tools+saplings

i went outside the border and found a cave and i was like SWEET i fell down a hole and there was a room full of monsters and for some reason a sheep
Minecraft according to ricktard:
This was a cool natural cave to find in the second day. I guess I'll explore deeper down with all of my gold and stack and a half of iron. i can't make a trip of a couple of minutes to store all of this. Oh boy! A natural lava spring better plug that up. Good thing I have two hears, there's no water around and I don't have any food. Man I better block of the lava flow so I can get closer to the source. Gee I sure hope I don't accidentally press a key and FALL INTO THE LAVA EVERY GODDAMN TIME AND LOSE ALL OF MY ****ING STUFF. THAT WOULD SUCK.
Die.
Play on peaceful for a week

Rinse and repeat.

I may never post but I am lurking. Always lurking...
Oh well, I can survive a four-block drop. It's only half a heart in damage.
OH WAIT I ONLY HAVE HALF A HEART LEFT FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
And then I died. Let that be a lesson to you, or something.
I think the lesson here is: Sometimes, There Is No Lesson.

I have a fairly large obsidian quarry with lots of lava and uneven surfaces, that I've been in the process of cleaning up for probably six weeks or so; the proverbial hard hat area. Anyway, I've been in the process of clearing it out, and doing it at 5 in the morning while tired. (Really not a smart thing to do)
My second mistake came from listening to videos on YouTube. Normally I bucket lava source blocks out to a safe external mould, douse them, and cut them out one at a time, precisely because of prior experience where I have repeatedly experienced horrible flaming death when I've tried to do it any other way.
All of the videos on YouTube, however, insist that you should just dump a great load of water all over a lava sheet, and you'll get heaps of obsidian and it will be really fast and easy. So being tired, and feeling lazy and impatient because of being tired, I finally decide to try that. I douse one block, then cut the obsidian below me, assuming in my tiredness that there would be no lava beneath me, when there obviously was.
Diamond pick, diamond shovel, and probably 80 obsidian...Gone. I've had that happen repeatedly before, and whenever it does, I log out of the game in disgust.
i just had my fourth and fifth one2 a few minutes ago in my last class where yesterday i let my friend play my save file and the ******* put lava into my main staircase so i decide to place tnt as a floor to try to make it over the lava after a few seconds i notice its on fire and end up jumping off the tnt int the lava in an attempt to make it to the end of the lava before i die... after losing about 200 tnt and a bucket i decide to go to my storage and get more tnt and jump of the ledge created by the tnt and then use the tnt to destroy more blocks but instead of landing on the stone i land in the lava again

If you know a girl that will 'get freaky' with you because of something you made in minecraft... I highly recommend you marry her.
Just finished carving out a nice mountainside fort, put pressure plates on my wooden door, I forgot I was playing on Hard. I heard SSSSsssss and three creepers had gotten in...
I shun pressure plates now...
I now put ladders in front of my doors and dig at least a 2 deep trench or build on stilts. So that anything that sneaks up at night will be trapped and no mobs can wander into my house if I leave the door open. One creeper surprise is enough.
I basically have 2 worlds, connected with a 1 minute interstate through the nether. A couple times I'm over huge pools of lava, and I go pass a few columns of lava during the trip.
So I was on my way back from my second world with about 25 stacks of sand, a few diamond tools and a bunch of other stuff...
Since the mine cart ride takes a minute or two, I normally barely pay attention. Sometimes I mess around, like try and punch the lava columns I ride passed. So I held the left click swinging at a lava column, when I knock my keys of my desk... still holding the mouse button, I pick up my keys, only to look back up at my screen and see me falling into a lava of lava in the nether... (I destroyed my mine cart)
/facepalm

Have you ever stopped to think... and forget to start again?
So you know how you can randomly find a cave opening on the surface that just goes straight down? Well I was walking around by my house trying to find a flat place to build a statue, and I just fell down a huge hole in the ground and died! It's not that it just randomly generated in front of me, it was in front of my house and I never noticed!
<-- hole going straight down
<-- My house
After that I went back to the hole, and went to the bottom safely. It connected to a huge cave system that had two dungeons and a bunch of iron. As I was walking around, I just fell into a pit of lava! And I already knew that the lava was there, and it's not like I was running from anything, I just fell right into it!
Yesterday I had a sapling spawn into a tree while i was in the restroom. When i came back I had died from suffocation due to the leaves spawning in my head XD
Afternoon, I was working on a cliffside fire waterfall in my walled off valley near my spawn. I had just finished covering the lava spawn with glass and my wooden structures below were now safe.
climbed down to the base, then suddently....SSSSSssss.
<--Pretty accurate depiction.
[]
And of course the glass broke, releasing lava unto my creations, even reaching my spawn point causing me to die 4 more times before I plugged it up.
Another is when I was digging a skylight for my lava-lit garden, which had lava and water pouring from the ceiling. I counted the distance from there to my ladder surface access, but miscounted on the travel back. I had expected to dig down into my water source and branch from there, missed by 2 squares and fell into the lava source instead.
My deaths in MC are always for the stupidest reasons.
Just a little while ago, I was holed up in my house awaiting daybreak. As I was heading out the door, I noticed a creeper lurking near my house. I armed my bow, and raced out. As expected, he began chasing me, and I led hi away from my precious dwelling.
As I begin to combat him, I hear a spider hiss, and then the little ******* comes flying down from the cliff above me. He lands on my head, and I take of running while spamming arrows at both of the nasties.
I guess the creeper didnt like the spider, as he promptly blew up, ending them both and scarring my front lawn. I breath a sigh of relief, which is cut short by a SSSSSSSssss.....And then Im flying into the sunset. I land hard, but im still alive (fresh iron armor is a lifesaver).
Of course, I land right near ANOTHER creeper, and he wants a hug. I manage to evade him, but in my haste to escape, i fall off of a cliff. A very tall one. I survive the fall, barely. My armor is destroyed, and I have about two hearts left. Beaten and bruised, I head home.
As I get there, I begin to feel better, until I see a lovely green face leering out of my window.
I had left my door open.
I grab my weapons, unleash a battle cry, and race toward the door. The creeper rushes at me, and then get stuck in my doorway. I try and lure him out by running in close and running out again. I mistakenly get too close one time...me, the creeper, my doorway, and a good chunk of my front wall all explode.
tl;dr Dont leave your doors open, creepers love home invasions.
I was playing Survival Island, on night 2 a creeper caught me unaware and kersploded my face down to half a heart. I didn't have a large enough grass area for animals to spawn, so no food to heal up. So I just continued on for a few game days on half a heart. I was chopping down a tree with my fist and walked off the roof of my house, fell 4 blocks and died.

Can you guess which block I managed to destroy while standing on?

It wasn't that I was startled or anything. I just fell off like an idiot.
