I have a world that I started to build my humble abode on and the problem is where I built it there is alot of sand, is there a faster way of getting rid of the sand, I tried lava and also TNT and its still isnt fast enough
Sand is pretty easy to mine, comparatively speaking. But you can make a few stone shovels if you want, although they wear out fast - I'm not sure if the time you save would be more than the time you spend getting the wood to make the shovels.

yes, it does save time. Especially if you use stone axes as well!

I just want to lure children into my cave with promises of candy so I can enslave them and put them to work in my underground mushroom farm.
1 - Go to the lowest block of the sand/gravel.
2 - Put torch in hand.
3 - Destroy bottom block of sand/gravel.
4 - QUICKLY place torch before the sand/gravel falls.
5 - If torch holds up sand/gravel, destroy torch and replace it quickly. Repeat until step 6 is reached.
6 - If done correctly, sand/gravel will 'evaporate' on the torch, leaving just about no work and lot's of material.
7 - ???
8 - Profit!
There is one method you could use, if you dig under the sand like so:
[] []
You can then place a torch at each spot under the sand like:
Then destroy the stone and the sand will be destroyed when it hits the torches, you dont even need to worry about suffocation as the falling sand is instantly destroyed by the torches. the only downside to this idea is that it requires a lot of torches and may take a longer amount of time anyway.

Mining with your sis might be fun, but in the future use a pickaxe. It's more efficient and humane that way.
