I'm pretty sure they already have that idea. The forums are the second most important part to Minecraft after the game itself. If they attack the forums, everyone is cut off from updates on the attack.
We still got twitter that Notch could update us on. They should be more prepared to handle things like this.

They aren't cut off from updates, the blog and twitter will still be up, I'm pretty sure they won't DDoS those just to get Notch. (But I will get extremely bored :sad.gif: )

High-fives are a renewable resource, so there shall definitely be more.
That's not a 4chan guy that's a hacker. Everyday 4channers =/= hackers.
Providing that this guy is even telling the truth; it is a pretty stupid idea to put that information out in public.
IP can be masked and all that ****.
And if they have bots that just means they bought a botnet or got access to it, probably the same kind of people who run the spam posts on 4chan at all times getting new bots.
If you understand how a botnet works then you understand how difficult it would be to stop it, considering potentially most all of the people who are attacking are doing so unknowingly and are members of the minecraft community, or potential members at least. Blocking them completely will hurt the community in the long run.
Still, the word "hacker" isn't the correct term to use here, nor is "4channer". If that guy is telling the truth, which I doubt he is (if he was, he'd post it all over the forums and not just on the blog) then he doesn't necessarily know how to do anything other than get access to the botnet, direct it to Notch and push play. Things are so smart these days they all practically run themselves, you just tell them what to do by inputting variables and letting them work it out themselves.
The sad thing about this (if it is truly what that guy says it is) is that he isn't necessarily hurting Notch as much as he is hurting all of the community members he's claiming to protect, and that's where the person went wrong. His movement is not an act of justice, it's a pathetic act of selfishness executed through secrecy and no good can come from it.
Whoever is doing this is very immature and pretty stupid to not think things through (if, as I said previously, this is as it seems) and someone that pathetically stupid yet hopelessly determined is very reckless and deserves nothing short of the worst kind of death possible.
He claims he's a "retired" oldfag though, and I don't think that's true either (assuming he isn't lying about everything). He might be of a dying breed of newfag from the myspace raid era but oldfag he is not. An oldfag would know better than to do something so stupid, an oldfag would have to have more reason than these people to and execute it with more precision and less grief on such a mass scale than the current situation, so I stand firm on my belief that, if the situation is as it seems, this is just some kid/guy with some powerful tools at his disposal and not enough brains or maturity to use them productively. Not that you can actually use botnets productively though, but you know what I mean.
It kinda seems like you are new to the internet if you blame everything on 4chan.
It's a community of people that post images on various topics. Yes there are some pretty crazy people but seriously what site doesn't have people like that?
We still got twitter that Notch could update us on. They should be more prepared to handle things like this.
It doesn't work for me either actually haha. It tends to crash and black screen before corrupting my files if I go offline.
I really can't imagine someone who would waste their time on this.

Sweet jesus why do you keep blaming 4chan?
Seriously? 4chan loves minecraft. There are as many threads of minecraft as there are of kittens now.
Clicky clicky for free minecraft

Because 4chan is to blame.
UPDATE: His blog appears to be under attack as well, as it is loading slow as hell for me.

Signed - an Oldfag.
Someone who just doesn't like minecraft.
Could be anyone really, but it doesn't really matter.
You are obviously new to the internet if you don't hate 4chan.

They wouldn't; that's the point.
They didn't; that's the main point.
