Your logic is seriously retarded:
1. Notch promises regular updates and smp&beta soon
2. People BELIEVE him and buy the game, giving him money
3. He takes the money and starts his own company
4. He says that starting his company with OUR money takes all his time, so he can't keep his promises
This is a joke. If there's is not major update in the next 14 days, I will seriously think about getting my money back. You are aware that updating is only NOTCHS responsibility right? We don't care that he has meetings. We payed, and we want what's promised. I can understand slight delays, but it's been like 4 months now, and smp is STILL not working.
Notch's timetable is not delayed anymore, it's non-existant.
You are the kind of person the we in the retail business absolutely hate, and don't mind losing you as a customer.
Sounds like the retail business may need to raise your standards a bit. If a customer pays for a product/promise and doesn't receive it, and his complaining to you about it annoys you, then it sounds like you're bad at your job.
I am very disappointed with Notch at the moment. I know he has been working hard to get his company up and running, but I think since he has chose to do this he should schedule dedicated time to work on the game each week just as he has been scheduling meetings. This doesn't mean he needs to do a Friday update every week, but it seems like hes not putting much time into Minecraft. Perhaps if he worked a couple weekends to make up for time lost during the week. Then when he gets his company settled he can go back to having the weekends for free time.
This thread amuses me. It's amazing how MANY of you people have no ****ing clue how the world works.
Care to enlighten us foolish people oh wise sage ?
Well, for one, unless you have a contract with Notch entitling you to regular updates every Friday, you're not entitled to them. This is not offered anywhere in the assumed agreement, which only consists of such: you, the person who forked over the cash for the game, have the always-revokable right to (download and) play the most recent version of the Software.
It seems like everyone is overlooking this simple fact here. ^
Read the EULA of any software you have ever purchased and you will see that what GreyMario stated is how it works in this world. You aren't paying for the software, just the always-revokable right to use said software. If the Company decides that you are not worthy (or whatever) and that you shouldn't be allowed to use thier software, you can't use that software anymore.

1. show me where he promises this, i have never seen that
2. you paid for the game in its current state, which is alpha, he has no obligation to continue updating
3. you WILLINGLY gave him your money, he didnt steal it, he didnt scam you
4. yeah, because once again, starting a company isnt just signing a check and handing it to someone, it actually requires effort, be glad its only taken this long to get so far
5. go ahead, get your money back, if your going to whine about the lack of updates while notch is actually STARTING A FREAKING COMPANY, i personally dont really want you here
6. of course smp isnt working yet, considering that it was released in its extremely buggy form, considering how far its gotten so far, its actually only needs mobs and some bugfixes and its done, unless im missing some huge thing its missing
1. He stated on his blog and on his website that beta and fully working smp are about 1 month away, that was in june.
2. No, I payed for a game AND the promised updates.
3. I never said otherwise.
4. What? Are you mental? Do I care what notch does? Just image I would NOT surf his blog/twitter/forums, Imagine I was a NORMAL customer. I would neither know nor care about what notch does all day long.
All I would see would be that the game is not being updated at all, even though it was promised when I bought it. YOU may feels some weird personal connection to notch, but others DON'T. I don't give a flying **** what notch does, what he wants, what his plans are, what his finances look like, what his company looks like, etc. I DON'T CARE FOR NOTCH. All I want is what was promised when I BOUGHT the game. And NOTHING of that has happened.
For the last 4 or 5 months notch put maybe 30 hours of work into his game, while his promises of regular updates lured 200k+ people into buying this crap.
Don't you get it? Most people DO NOT CARE for notch. For me he is indifferent to any other company that I bought a product from. Just because you don't have any friends, and thus put all you empathy into this swedish guy, trying to defend him and being super tolerant about his way of mistreating his customers, does not mean others feel the same.
So stop using this "he is starting his company up" as an argument. It's NOT VALID.
Fail. You bought the game as-is. Sucks that you can't seem to read beyond a 5th grade level.
whiners: go get a refund, stop whining about no updates, because quite frankly, if i was notch, i would have given you a refund and ip banned you from the minecraft site
normal people with any amount of patience: continue along, ignoring the whiners

You gave him money under no contract. He gave you software you payed for, and that's it. Notch could take the money and go on vacation for all I care. It's his money and his descision to keep developing the game or to run off with the money.
Logic says that he will keep developing the game to get more people to buy it.
If you came into my stor,e i would happily give you a refund and refer your ovrerdemanding personality to the competition.

********. Pure unadulterated ********. Back it up.
he dosent have to back it up, are you retarded, if somebody buys something and is unsatisfied becasue the quality isnt as good as he was led to believe and he complains and you get angry and wish he wasnt your customer you are bad at your job, you are also morally corrupt and a moron
It someone is too stupid to understand what they are buying they have no right to complain.
The only person you should be mad at is yourself. After all, you're the idiot who couldn't be bothered to read about what you were actually purchasing.
Now can you stop whining about things you weren't promised? I'm just as anxious as anyone to get an update, but no amount of whining or bitching or anything is going to change the fact that there isn't one today.
Alpha means very frequent updates. That's what we payed for. Notch does not deliver. People are pissed. Simple as that.
You may want to brush up on your development models there. Some updates don't even get released when they're completed. In fact, delaying updates can help find bugs in the current subversion that more updates would complicate if they were added in before the bugs were ironed out.
Also note that an update does not equal new content. I've gotten more than one update over the course of the last two weeks. Just none of them included new content.
Also, you weren't promised updates ata ll. An alpha can die in the blink of an eye (rhyme time yay!)
This is so ****ing hilarious. There's this MASSIVE shitstorm going on, and nobody is going to back down, and NOBODY has even really talked about WHAT THE THREAD IS ABOUT.
Fail. You bought the game as-is. Sucks that you can't seem to read beyond a 5th grade level.
**** you.
HAHAHA Man... I appreciate that no matter how rough a week can get, I can rest assured that the closer we get to Friday the more morons will poke their head out of the sand to make fools of themselves on the internet. Man I love weekly friday updates (and even more so when they don't happen!). Thank you Minecraft Forum users!
I just bought the game so I'm not familiar with the frequency of updates, or the current lack of updates.
I love the game the way it is, and I'm glad I paid for it. I'm going to pay for it again for my wife so we can plan on our own server. I know we can get around it, but I'd rather not.
That being said, of course I would love to see updates like flying things, water monsters, more crafting, finished up SMP and all that.
I think the most productive use would be to frame your desires in a more positive manner. Give notch your encouragement and let him do his thing. I'm telling you if I just made that much money I'd take some time off.
It sounds like he is hiring people and starting the company, at that point they will be able to make updates more frequently. Hiring good people takes time, but once they are going it should be great.

Dear Retard who thinks that Notch starting a company is not important,
With Notch starting a company that means that there will be more people working on and maintaining the game. More people working on the game means that there can be more updates per update. Getting more staff means that you have less retarded people to deal with and maintained site/game/smp. If you would like to take the time to realize that Notch starting a company is a GOOD thing and BENEFITS us all.
If you think about it, the more minds working on it, some things will be less glitchy, things will be solved faster. It won't just be one person doing everything... but more.
I'm wondering how you make a Square fish? I guess the same way you make a square pig/chicken/cow/sheep...

pixartist, wow, you really ARE stupid. Go reach for Wikipedia and tell me the definition of "alpha" as related to software development stages.
