In my opinion, the low amount of mobs present in /infdev/ is a good thing. Why?
It encourages exploration of dark caves and outings at night. Most of you would be confident enough to go out and build or explore at night, provided you had a sword and maybe some armour and food, but there's still the risk that there's a creeper lurking around the next corner, or a spider about to jump out of that dark crevasse at your face.
No, I prefer when you need to fight to make a cave your own. I explored lots of caves and haven't found a single monster :/
Hmm... Well, seeing as night isn't 100% dark, perhaps Notch could make caves which are 100% dark have much higher spawning rates. Nights would still be okay for exploring the overworld, but caves you'd have to be prepared for.

Less mobs = More happiness
I personally don't like mobs cause you have to encounter then by melee 90% of the time.
They're also very creepy, if you ask meh =S
well here is the deal there is no reason to make less monsters because for the people who dislike them
(such as my self) can turn down the difficulty to low or none

But the thing is, it's physical. Looking at a cat barely turns me on.
I played for 2 hours on hard and only encountered my first monster(a single creeper) like 45 minutes in. At the end of those 2 hours I found a grand total of 6, count em, 6 monsters. What we need is MORE monsters in infdev, or at least increasing numbers over time.

There is a reason. I want to have tough monsters, just not many of them. Some may want hordes of weaker monsters.
Can't get it perfect by everyone I guess.
Goddamit, what is this sissyfest? If you don't like the old mob spawning rate then play on peaceful you wuss. Leave the grownups to deal with the deep dark evil places like men.
So yeah, I liked the old spawn rate. You need to have a horde of like five monsters just outside your door each morning. Any less and monsters are a non-issue.

Whats up with people making topics like: "Am I the only one who thinks-...-is good?" because its starting to anger me for some odd reason. Personally I think monsters spawn rate should be effected by how dark the block is: As in pitch black blocks will have a higher chance of spawning more enemies. This would make the surface during night not to dangerous but still dangerous. I believe notch wanted the surface to be more safe than the dark deep caves anyways. I like a diversity chance a lot more than NONE or MANY mob spawn rates, which is pretty much how it is now (diverse[ish]).

I went into a pitch black cave on hard mode, wandered around for half an hour, and found one skeleton in that time. And I've never found a monster on the surface since he changed the spawn rate. That's diverse?
like, im so used to the early infdev days that every time i see a pig move in the distance, my mind flashes back to minecraft wwII, and i start smacking the sheep with a brick. then run away cause i got to close.

What? So when pigs get hit by lighting, they suddenly develop into bipeds and receive brown leather skirts and golden swords from nowhere?

Your opinions on this lack of mobs in /infdev/?
are ugly
