I think that since this is a mixtape, and the "depressing" music is in the beginning, it will still be featured. I personally like the music we have right now, so I'm glad it'll still be there.
These new tracks are really cool though. I hope they will be available for individual download somewhere.

"Guess what kind of hat I have? It's a party hat; you don't get one." - Tycho, Marathon
"I'M GONNA RAPE YOU WITH TNT /psycho" - dysgalt
I have to admit, I liked some of the previous 'depressing' music that was in Indev, I quite miss having it in Infdev. There was something soothing about patrolling my towers at night, with the dull glow of torches casting shadows on the walls, listening to soft and melancholy piano music.
If you bother to dig through your files, you can find the three different songs somewhere and put them on a playlist. (That way you can control the volume.)

I really loved the ORIGINAL music from indev, I really hope that notch backs off from the party music and goes for the ambient relaxing feel of those original tracks

Or better yet, a "playlist" you can make in-game to play only certain ones, or none at all, ect.
It's a bit too upbeat for wandering dark tunnels and a lot of it sounds really dissonant. there's a bit too much going on at some parts with percussion and dissonant chords to be good ambient music.

I don't think it has to be ambient to fit Minecraft. :]
I personally do NOT like it. It doesn't fit Minecraft well.
It would be better if he remixed the old songs to be a BIT less depressing. The ambiance works well, but it's too calm for certain moments, and it's too gloomy.
I would be giddy if it would stay ambient AND cheery at the same time.
I don't know about you guys, but I am liking what I am hearing.

That, and some of the later parts, were my favorites. And I'm listening to it right now. :biggrin.gif:
About a third way through it's really cool too.

Although I still like it.
Maybe I'm just not used to thinking of Minecraft with Music all the time.

Here, I'll rehost on my Dropbox for anybody who can't listen to it on the original link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3655356/Music/C ... ecraft.mp3
