So, when farming, you need to get water next to the dirt block that you want to be watered.
This means that any farms must have fingers of water running through them, one for every two rows of dirt. This effectively cuts farming area by 1/3.
Would it be possible to build a plateau of dirt blocks hanging out over a body of water? This way you can maximize farming area, even build farms on top of a lake (or mine underneath an existing farm to let water under)
I am not sure how the water/tilled soil relationship actually works but it was just a thought that I had.
Will try it tomorrow perhaps when I find some time.

Eighth Blocks. Plox. It would make me so very happy. (click it!)
1. Yes
2. The water actually affects several blocks into land. You could have it be one water lane for every 6 or so if you wanted, but it makes harvesting a pain in the butt
Oh, uh, I have 3 gardens with water running underneath every block, and they work. They might not get all watered, but the crops will stay there once I plant them.

Back in my day, sheep dropped brown mushrooms, and by golly we... Hated it, pretty much.
You have to have it same level as water for it to work! :geek:
It used to work, it doesn't anymore.
