This probably belongs in SMP Support, but nobody answers my questions over there :/
When I start up a private server (just me and 4 other friends) on my computer, the server runs fine. All plugins accounted for, no severe exceptions etc.
Then i'll start up my client (updated) and i'll try to connect to "localhost" (they're on the same computer) and it'll say "Logging In" and go through to "Downloading Terrain" and it just freezes there. I can't get on to my server to see how things are doing and it's quite frustrating. If anyone has any ideas to remedy this, please let me know.
MODERATORS: If you feel it absolutely necessary, go ahead and move this to SMP support (I'm not in a position to question your judgment because... well, I love you guys :biggrin.gif:)
Possibly because it's easier to say "Hey thats a cool vein of Gold" vs helping someone they have no idea whats wrong.
You would have better luck in SMP Support, as you're asking a support question, this is SMP discussion, hence why people discussed the gold vein topic and not help support you.
I have no idea what is wrong with your client, but try using your IP next time, not localhost. I've had problems with using that IP before, but when I switched to my external I was fine.
Other than that, again, you'll have more success in finding a solution in SMP Support.
Yeah, this may be caused by client mods if you are using any. Delete your %AppData%\.minecraft\bin\ folder and redownload. If this only occurs on one server, someone in that server has placed an illegal block there, such as colored cloth.
Sorry to make it sounds douchey Potato... I'm actually a big fan of yours and everything you've done (i'm kind of honored to have you and Juze in a thread I made :biggrin.gif:) I just get anxious when my Minecraft doesn't work
I've been playing on my server comp. cause my charger for my other comp. was chewed through by my kitty (smarmy little f*cker) and I got another charger, booted up the other comp. and it still wouldn't let me connect. So it's narrowed down to either
a) My server hates me for some reason
:cool.gif: My account has malfunctioned (not sure if possible or not)
c) The Noid has gotten to my server and it's cold now...

Did you try using the external IP instead of Localhost?
I did, and it didn't work. But for some raisin what did work was I dragged the server_nogui.bat file, the Minecraft_mod.jar and minecraft_server.jar files into a new folder started it up and worked all of my old properties files into the New Folder and i was able to log on. I'm still unsure of what happened (which bothers me terribly) but for now i'm okay... I have Minecraft!!!

There's your response.
