To be honest, aside from the servers being banned from using MC Admin, which was pretty much a **** move, I don't see the real point of all the bickering. It's not like some commercial companies don't have something of their own which could be considered "bad", sometimes even cheating. And mind you, we actually pay for these games. Think of Developer Weapons in Team Fortress 2. Sure, it's not the same, but still.
Also, might I remind you people that MC Admin is currently open sourced? It's pretty much as transparent as it can be right now, and if you really don't trust it, you could always just try a custom build of MC Admin.
I know Doridian personally, the reference to "Hax/hacky stuff" means things along the lines of aimbots, ingame cheating, and things of the like.
Well, if that's true, this actually wouldn't help his reputation IMHO. Something "along the lines of aimbots" clearly means cheating in multiplayer, egoistically ruining other people's experience. Pretty ironic if a cheater would be in charge of a "global banlist" now...
Yes I do make aimbots, but I only make them to make them. I never used my aimbots on servers I do not own.
In Doridian's defense, I used to hack Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Didn't like it though since I never got any appreciation for any of the tools I made for them, e.g. I mostly got flak. Ungrateful bastards.
The point is, yes, we do hack games, but only because we can. Just because I can savegame hack Recettear doesn't mean I actually do it to beat the game. Just because I can hack Albion doesn't mean I put my hacks to good use. But I can, therefore I do.
Seriously, there should be another support topic, since this is about the complaints people have about the whole ordeal and crap. People who'd bicker in the support topic could just get a warn or something, seeing as it currently would be off-topic with this official statement topic or whatever the Slip this topic is.
I did use McAdmin at one point, then it messed up my hey0 so i stopped, McAdmin is a good program but i honestly think anything made by a guy that bans people on their own servers, should not be able to distribute software to anyone, and anyone that SHUTS DOWN someones server should be banned from Minecraft.
Making the wrapper open source would be a good step toward redemption. Otherwise, who knows what this will do to your server client. Once bitten twice shy.

Give the man a rest guys.
I don't use this admin software myself, but as far as i understand its free no?
So , this guy provided you with a free server admin software, in wich he at one point during development decided to add a developer "backdoor" , most likely to be able to join peoples server without theyr need to give him the nessesary permissions to help out.
A feature added with good intentions.
He makes one mistake by getting abit irritated over a user of his software insulting him.
But he quickly undoes this and straightens it out.
Rumors spread and he apologizes here on the fourms while explaining what happened.
From my standpoint i can only see that he is doing loads of work, to provide a software for free that helps the community, and now that he has added confirmations to the softwares devmode and banlists there should be no sceptisism about it either, specially not with source available.
Thank you for putting in the effort to provide a server admin software, and thank you for adding those confirmation dialogues.
And to the rest of the community, keep in mind that this isn't microsoft coding this, its some guy making it on his own spare time, the software might not always follow the same strict "codes of conduct" as a retail product is held up against.
Inb4 tldr: Nice fix, will try out the software later
I agree with others here, but would like to pose the question in a more civil tone:
Why is he not banned from the game and forums altogether?
I realize he apologized, but I get the feeling he apologized not because he's sorry but because he got caught - it's already been pointed out that his post doesn't acknowledge WHY his actions were wrong or even that they were. In the very least there should be SOME form of repercussions for such actions, among them some form of legal action as this is quite clearly a legal matter.
If this sort of transgression isn't taken seriously, this game is going to have some serious issues down the road. People need to be held accountable for their actions.
Apology or no apology, what you did there was not only wrong, but illegal in many countries including your own.
Also, it shouldn't of taken a whole community to make you realize you were wrong. You should of apologized there and then and removed the offending code right away.
Unfortunately, now knowing your previous background and everything, I won't touch any software you make with a ten foot pole. I also hope you do not plan on making a living out of development because your future employers won't be too fond of what you did either (yes, they do check your past). You pretty much ruined your career right there.
Also, I did contact federal police with everything that happened and sent them past binaries, chat logs, contact info and everything. I'm a strong believer in "actions having consequences" and they are investigating. What you did, again, was not only wrong, but illegal.

You're willing to possibly ruin a kids life over this? I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if i were you, that's worse than what he did in my eyes.
Edit: Ignore this post, I don't know what I'm talking about.

I don't know why we keep taking his word for it that the feature is intended to make it so that he can help out people easier. For once, it's not exactly a complicated thing to tell someone what to type to make you an admin, and second the claim is nonsensical when you consider...
Second, the unkickable and unbannable feature was added due to some servers banning me for hacking (this is due to me having a pink [Dev] tag on all MCAdmin powered servers so people recognize me, they thought I hacked it in)
You can't ask him for help and simultaneously not know who he is. This feature wouldn't be necessary if he didn't join any servers where the admin didn't know who he was or didn't want random people to have dev power on their server.

The [Dev] tag had nothing to do with Dev mode, just thought you should know.
I'm not going to make a major statement or anything here... While I do feel a bit betrayed by you, Doridian, I understand the draw to power and how it corrupts. You developed an amazing piece of software which I used, and when I get back to running my server, will continue to use. That aside, your actions in this matter were unethical, which has put a mar on your name in my book.
That aside, I can say that I truly respect you a bit more now for admitting your mistake and exposing yourself to the community. Yes, it will definitely take time to regain a good name for yourself, but sometimes it takes a mistake to truly learn the difference between right and wrong. Sometimes, it is just better to learn the hard way.
Also, might I remind you people that MC Admin is currently open sourced? It's pretty much as transparent as it can be right now, and if you really don't trust it, you could always just try a custom build of MC Admin.

lets start drama over a shitty wrapper

It is open source.. <_<
Or is it just MCAdmin is removed entirely?

I stand corrected, although honestly he still doesn't need the feature.
