This plug-in forces players to stay within a DEFINED block radius of spawn whilst exploring.
If you leave the DEFINED block radius, you are blocked...
...and if you try to teleport out, you are brought back to the border.
This plug-in is a VAST IMPROVEMENT over House Arrest, which only checks every 15 seconds and will return players to spawn.
This plug-in just creates an almost physical (it's invisible!) barrier preventing the player from trespassing.
In SETTINGS: (now under borderLands.txt)
useRadiusOnly - Set this to true if you wish to use the OLD circle style borders.
distanceToBorder - This is the distance from the SPAWN to the border.

v1.01 - Fixed several serious bugs, should have come up in testing. D:
This is interesting, I've not tested it but I'm assuming it is like a limited map within the infinite map system. Very nice, though the name was misleading. I thought it was some sort of land-claim game plugin.
Yes please I would love to see some sort of "land-claim" "land-dispute" kind of gameplay, could be a lot of fun in SMP to have to defend a flag or something :smile.gif:
A place other than spawn would be good to have a radius from, that way we can move spawn and not have to worry a out making new land and removing old land. Atm, I modify this my self with everynew build of housearrest and now borderlands.
I Love this mod, it's perfect for what i need. the part that i found most difficult was showing players where the wall was.... so i surrounded the map in a desert with the wall only 10-15 blocks in the desert, when you hit the wall there is still desert as far as you can see off in the horizon.
is there an easy way to change what says "you have reached the border" and "do not attempt to teleport out of the border" to
"only death awaits you in this direction"
and "magic is useless in the infinite sands"
Mod edit: I've changed the image tag to a url, because the load time on that picture (and consequent memory consumption) was rather severe. For pictures of this size, I think the link is the best way to go.
And I agree with some of the above posters, if this mod had the option of making several borders, for different groups or such, it could become significantly more useful.
Keep improving on the mod, sturmeh, it has loads of potential!
For some reason I'm getting an error on plugin load.

Maybe it's something obvious and I'm too tired to notice it. Brand new server.jar, hey0 and BorderLands.jar on CentOS
I got an error too. I do have some llamacraft classes loaded. Ubuntu linux, Cuboid also installed. BorderLands.jar is in the same folder as CuboidPlugin (plugins/).
I just went back to HouseArrest for now... it's not as good, but my border is 3000 units out... it's far enough that people only hit it by a LOT of travel.

Last two posts, make sure you at least restart the server once when going between HouseArrest -> BorderLands.
...and make sure you are using the latest version of hey0's mod, I constantly update it to stay up to date.
I am implementing these requested changes... ( in some order )
- Allow customisation of all "strings" used in the plug-in. ( For role-play etc. )
- Adding MULTIPLE points of reference, this way you only need to be n units from ANY particular way point.
- Will store these in a config and allow custom distances.
- When two zones overlap (contested land) - not sure what to do here?
- When you go from being closer to one point to being closer to another point it will mention you are in new land.
Feel free to leave requests, and please consider donating!
This would be perfect for preserving my map until biomes are released, but it refuses to load with hey0 b117, llamacraft 3.6 (partial), Runecraft and SimpleServer wrapper. Same problem as the previous two posters. I'm wondering if anyone has sorted what was going wrong yet. Cuboid plugin loads without a hitch. I'm going to try some others, and also try running the server without simple server wrapper.
Edit: Issue is fixed, as I thought, it was something stupidly obvious; you can't wget the dropbox link. That's why you don't install things in the morning or before bed, you fail to miss the stupidly obvious stuff like wget telling you it's text/html named BorderLands.jar instead of a real jar

Updated main post to clearly state the link is not direct.

Is this not the case with the other 2 people?
hahaha yeah, that was the problem. Thank you Syrairc. I guess I should pay attention to my wget dialogue from now on :wink.gif: Problem solved and working like a charm. Great plugin Sturmeh!
hey guys, so i just installed borderlands on my server and the borderLands.txt file is empty, and I don't even get a text file when I download it to my computer for my copy of minecraft... can you guys send me a default borderLands.txt file by just copying and pasting into the boards? or messaging me? or something??

Is it possible to set the borderland focus point to XYZ coordinates instead of the spawn?
In my world, the spawn has become densely populated and I want to move it. Based on my understanding of your plugin, player who built in the far corners can be adversely affected (denied access) by this move.

Two suggestions, however.
First off, perhaps you can make it so you can make mulitiple borders around the map?
Secondly, a mode where you are informed that you are leaving said border to somewhere elce, but you are not restricted (very good for RP)

same
However it's a little annoying when you hit the border.
Can you code it to put in an adminium wall at the border? That would be unbelievably fantastic.
