I really do hate seeing people trying to make this a priority. Notch will get to it when he feels like it. We are not playing the full version of the game; only an alpha. As such, no 'features' should have a priority over the other. The only major priority is what Notch is working on RIGHT now. After the game gets launched, then new features can become more important than others.

What's it like this time of year in Logical Fallacy Land? I hear the weather is always nice because the weather is always nice.
1. Server stability (My minecraft server runs with 2GB dedicated ram for the app and a kickass 4 core proc, it uses 50% ram and 50% CPU, yet it lags with 5 players).
3. Ability for minecraft server to utilize multiple processors.
4. Lag duplicate bug
5. Working carts
6. Player damage
7. Correct fluid simulation.

Not to seem like a meanie, but when you make a game, the best thing to do is to disown it. It isn't YOUR game, it is THEIR game. Sure, you made it, but you made it for them. This sounds harsh, but it isn't, it is reality. From a different perspective, say I buy a cake, and they say "Ok, I saw the template that you picked out, come back in an hour and you can pick it up", it isn't up to the baker to put skittles and pizza on the cake, it is up to the customer what goes on the cake. If you bought a Cheeseburger with no pickles and they gave you a chicken sandwich, you would find that unacceptable.
Likewise, if Notch (the baker) needs a day to relax and unwind, give it to him :tongue.gif: He deserves it.
TL:DR; Your customers know what they want. To make them happy and sell more copies, give them what they want.
+2
I was just discussing this with my friend, I was hooked into SP and got my friend into it, now we roll on my MP Server but find ourselves after only 2 weeks with more than enough diamonds and caves and bases to the point where we are getting bored with it. The only danger is from the random creeper wandering into a base and blowing a hole in the wall. Especially now with no sounds I can't even pretend to be scared when exploring caves and hearing zombies.
Needless to say I don't plan on playing much until some new updates come out.
If notch is rolling in $250,000 a day on sales I think keeping the interest level up would be a main priority, we obviously have a longgg time before this game is fully released. Without these things there is no way he can maintain this level of popularity.
My guess is he will wait until beta before adding this. I only hope it doesn't take losing 1/2 the community before getting it done.

I don't think it is wrong for a community to request priority on a specific bug fix. However, we have to accept at this stage that it may or may not be done before something else. Don't you think that Notch would like to know what the community feels is a priority?
Thanks for that contribution, I didn't know that. You should try predicting the future for a living, you would never be wrong with that answer. Your are a talented individual.
Oh wait never mind, you said "Server side health will come when Notch wants it too". Sept. 10th Notch said "I’ll work on inventory security and server-side health management next week. Server-side health means you’ll be able to fight monsters and perhaps even other players. :D". Sounds like he wanted it to come out, but was unable to get it going. I retract my previous statement of your all knowing abilities. I would go on but I'll spare you.

I dissagree but I see what you're getting at. There needs to be a middle ground between want the customers want, and what the developer can do and what his vision for the game is. Just because a bunch of players want master chief in the game doesn't mean notch should do it.
The game world is huge and the more poeple we can get into a world to take up a piece or two would only make the game better. So I can see how the popularity of the game exploded recently as people talking friends into giving it a go.
I personally want to take this to my guild and have a world hosted by the same company that does our forums, email, chat and other game servers. Multi player would have to work like single player before I can sell the game to my friends though.
Kudos! Notch on designing a goldmine. However I really hope the games popularity does not peak before the game peaks.

Honestly? Much of the time they don't. But then, neither does the seller. The best thing you can do is just to build the game to be as good as you can, to your own standard, especially when you're doing it indie. You should take other people's opinions and ideas into account, especially if they're paying, but if you pandered to what everyone asked for all the time, you'd end up with a terrible game that nobody would want to play.
It's time for some PvP! :biggrin.gif:

Working health (for mobs AND players) and working minecarts in SMP should be the two highest priorities right now IMO.

99.99% of the 1% that notch didn't get to. Congrats.

The majority has spoken so Notch should have this done by next Friday.
