I'm just curious.. Because in single player, this feature REALLY makes the game for me. Playing with a RL friend on a server now.. And the monsters being unable to attack and vice versa really takes alot from the game.
Any coders out there that understand how difficult this would be to implement?
Also, to everyone else, any idea on your best ETA as to when this feature might be added?
As with everything, when Notch gets to it. He doesn't 'set dates' for this sort of thing because everyone whines when it's not done. Multiplayer is still relatively new.
1) As stated by a previous poster, You can kill mobs with flint & steel. As long as fire isn't nerfed on that specific server.
2) Mobs can drown. Most of them can't get out of a regular water current.
3) They can also suffocate. I've trapped a chicken in a pit and placed gravel ontop, which fell down and buried it.
4) If you can't do any of the above, push them into lava. If they touch lava for only a split-second, they'll only be set alight. When they're actually in it, they disappear almost instantly.
I know Notch is doing what he can as he has time, but I'm sure he would want to know what the majority would like to see next. I agree that I would like dmg to be the next priority, there are quite a few PvP servers that need that one element to make it playable. Currently single player and even SMP where people are just building are totally playable in that aspect, but the pvp servers are just waiting for dmg basically. So yea I vote player dmg :biggrin.gif:
Thanks for all the hard work Notch! Got two of my friends to buy the game after the free weekend and might have two more in the next day or so, Long live !
We NEED server based health for player and monsters to be the number 1 priority! This should be considered core gameplay and is important to the overall game experience.

Bugs have been posted, but Notch doesn't have a system setup to acknowledge and prioritize them, at least not publicly.
I'm hoping a bug tracking system is high on his priority list so I don't feel like I'm shouting into the wind anymore.
Thanks for all your hard work notch. i noticed you sold 24460 over the last day.....whats that? like $350,000 almost? GJ!

Agree 100%. Not much of a "survival" mode if you can't be hurt.
Please please please!

What's the point of survival if there's nothing to harm you :sad.gif:
Great start though Notch
