As I imagine it, most servers will fill up quickly, and there will be people I don't know running about everywhere. I just hope to god that someone doesnt manage to get a bucket and lava before anyone has a chance to lava proof the spawn somehow. Anyways. ITT: What's going to happen in the first hours of Survival?
Yeah, I managed to play on the test server a few minutes. All I saw was fire on the docks someone built, and people chatting about how amazing it was although they weren't doing anything. I hope some idiot doesn't go crazy with flint and steel before anyone can kill them.

How to feel cool on Minecraft forums:
>New Feature is announced
>Begin claiming it ruins the game "MINECRAFT ISN'T A BED/DOG/HAVING FUN SIMULATOR, IT'S ABOUT STANDING IN YOUR HOUSE WITH NOTHING TO DO ALL DAY REMOVE EVERY FEATURE GUH"
I expect it to be buggy and monsterless. Still fun hopefully.
Although I don't think griefing will be a big issue. You mostly saw that in creative multiplayer because it was free.
I am expecting many infinite servers to close within the first few hours when people realize how many resources they use. Some will stay up that are hosted on dedicated servers or a computer the host doesn't use or something.
Don't forget that not all of the 40,000 people will be getting on at once :tongue.gif: in fact, I expect the traffic to be less than usual given the early hours for most Americans.
Im staying up through the night/morning to be one of the first, its currently 11:50 PM where I am. (California, USA). So hopefully youre right about the traffic.
I expect hellfire and brimstone to descend from the skies upon the launch of SMP. Chaos will engulf the Minecraft lands and there will be a series of skirmishes between survivor groups and lone wolves.
Na, but in all seriousness, Notch has yet to implement the full features of SMP. No mobs, PvP, and a proper inventory system, among other things. I'm very curious as to how people will really act while in the servers without these things.

WOOT! WEST SIDE REPRESENT!
On the topic, however, tomorrow mid day will most likely be the most chaotic time to join a server.
And as far as griefers, there will be a few of them, and on the server I'm going to (which so happens that the OP is hosting) we're banning anyone who deliberately tries to slow down our progress with our city. Hopefully it will be a lot fewer people than I fear.
Tough administration is the key.
Also, everyone is predicting 100 servers to pop up from no where.
Take away the ones that will utterly fail, we're left with about 50.
Great, that's only 920 people for each server.
I think we can manage...
Think about that for a second....
Not EVERY single person who owns the game will be playing the game at the same time. Gotta remember those time zones, they're tricky.
But because of those time zones, it'll lighten the server load by a LOT!
EDIT:

With all these people, I'm kinda worried I won't even beable to get onto my own server. D:
If there are players that you don't know, just kick one of them so you can get in. not that hard, and I'm assuming that you can /kick people from the console :tongue.gif:
If you ever watched or played on the Alpha, you notice alot wasn't done, except people basically touching eachother.

Anyways, won't you need specific IPs to connect, and Im not even sure if you will have to port forward or not
