I am hosting a server with my buds and everything works fine, but once in a while there is major lag. The only option I can think of is increasing the RAM (even though the server is only using 120mb at most.) I have 6GB of DDR3 RAM and I am only able to allocate 864mb, anymore and the cmd just quickly opens then closes. I'm pretty sure I have 32-bit and 64-bit java, I just can't rap my head around what the problem is.

operating system? what command line are you using exactly?

I have windows 7 64-bit, and the command line that I am using is:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xmx864M -Xms864M -jar minecraft_server.jar

if you have windows 7 the 64 bit java is in a different folder try:

"C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xmx2048M -Xms2048M -jar minecraft_server.jar

edit: this is assuming that you DO have the 64 bit java installed.

That did the trick, I must of skimmed past the Java folder in Program Files, because I checked there earlier on.
