My Name is Aaron Godding, but you can call me Godding.
For the past 3 days, I've been studying "PHP" internet coding, So I could generate and make my own website(s).
In those 3 days, I have been using the material I've been learning to make a "Minecraft Online/Offline Status Checker", which will generate you a image which will show if you're server is offline or online (and for other people to see).
If you've ever been a online gamer (like me) you might have seen status checkers like these before, some of which can be used for Minecraft but aren't entirely created for the purpose.
Today I have edited everything on my Status page, adding in text box support and added a whole new page which generates the image.
The Status checker works by:
It sends a message to the host/ip - (using the port and Ip)
If it receives a message back, it will display "Server Name" is Online!
If it doesn't receive a message back, it will display "Server Name" is Offline!
The image will not have to be continuously re added and checked, if a server goes offline it will tell you as soon as the image is refreshed. In other words, the image is constantly sending and receiving messages from the Ip:Port.
The reason I'm making this thread, is because I hope to promote my website so that you guys can use it for free. The website is in a somewhat beta status, I'll be adding player support and such but at the moment just a status checker should wheel in some views/traffic.
Coding PHP is VERY time consuming, so I won't be updating the page every day.
Here is a preview of what the status checker does:
That shows it's online.
That shows it's offline.
I know the offline/online images are poorly made, but if someone could make me one that looks good I'd be VERY happy <3.
I'm hoping Notch will read this and ask for the code (DESPERATE TIMES!).
