Droozer, I can't disagree, but what makes it worse is that it's such an awesome server when it works...
That's why I've decided to go back "features" to a week ago. The map will be the same but all plugins will be reverted, as well as maybe the OS. This might take a couple minutes, but at least i can promise the server will actually work when I get back... If it doesn't, an OS reinstall is about all I have left up my sleaves. I'm thinking Debian, it seemed to work best (that was a week ago).
Yeah guys, I hate to do this but it's for the greater good. She's going offline for the day. We'll have it back online and working like it did a week ago (performance wise, same map as today) tomorrow morning.
Sorry to everyone... but the host is in a test phase for a reason :smile.gif:
Immortal Realms WILL be back up and strong like bull once again. Changing configurations to make it better made it worse instead, so we're going back to the solid square 1 for the time being.
Downtime will be until tomorrow, expected.
No one's unhappier than me and r-t-b about it, but these things happen. Hope to see all of you tomorrow!
Wrong sir, wrong. YOU stole the fizzy lifting drinks and YOU touched the ceiling, therefor it must be washed and sterilized! So you get nothing! You lose! Good day sir!
The server is finished and has been test running for hours. It's stable now, ready for action. I hit it with every test imaginable. All that's left to do is for Dademon to login and start it. I'm leaving the timing up to him. :smile.gif:
Hey everyone, looks like Dademon got on top of it!
We've reverted to the last map where it was working stable, but the good news is I'd bet my life and honor this one's going to work. I'm that confident after my tests.
I really love this server, but, man oh man, the stability is never consistent. Most of the other servers I go to that are dedicated are literally 24/7, unless a major update is on the way.
To tell you the truth, this is probably one of my most favorite servers that I've been to so far. The only flaw I'm really seeing is the occasional shut-down serv. problem.
Sorry if I sound like a whiny *****, but it's cramping up the epic server swag. Not good. ):

It's fine.
The server is "not" 24/7 yet. We're in a test phase where we're experimenting with settings to get the optimal server performance.
As this is not yet listed as a 24/7 server, I should have clarified there will be downtime during the test phase.
We will announce when it is ready to be 24/7. It should be very soon, as we've chosen Debian Linux as our OS! Now onto settings!
Server did well tonight. We hit 95% CPU usage and it didn't even lag, let alone crash. Was quite the crowd for a bit.
I'll be adding another CPU core free of charge so we can handle even more people. Dademon gets it free due to all the trouble, at least for the first official month of service when we enter "24/7 status" Shouldn't be long. :smile.gif:
It's coming online now, just give it 2 minutes to boot. :smile.gif:
With any luck, we can stop these constant shutdowns and actually play. At any rate, I'm not turning her off again tonight.
EDIT: Wow, that's the first time I've seen it not like another processor. THis should only take a minute to fix.
Lag is the new enemy, report it here.

And if it's not fixed, well that sucks too.
So someone, try it out one more time for me. I'll log on in person even!

UP

UP
UP!

Enjoy!
Dynamic Map! Oh my god!
http://glacialsoftware.com:25568/map/
There are *NO* player locations on this map! That would ruin PVP!
But this map is REAL-TIME UPDATED.
See every chunk as it's being changed! Yeah!
Oh, and by the way, server is performing nicely under load!
Top of the graph is our performance limit, and we're not hitting it people even under peak! That means like 0 lag!
If you've been waiting to come back, now's the time!

That said, I'm pretty sure the server IS stable now. We just need to let it run a few days before I can actually say "24/7 is ready" :smile.gif:
Can't announce that before we're certain, but I wouldn't at all be surprised if it goes for AT LEAST 24 hours without reboot now. :smile.gif:

Everyone who was on, just reconnect. She's going.
