Yeah sorry about that everyone, as I explained in the above post, I had to smash every little bug that creeped it's head out. I'm a perfectionist like that.
Anyhow, I've spent way too much time on Dademon's server, so you can expect it to work great now without me interrupting you again. Enjoy!
Yep, it's the save game. Sorry everyone. Looks like the last crash under the old system left us with a mess. Luckily Dademon keeps hourly backups, and with this new ram arrangement corruption should no longer happen (he was maxing out ram pretty regularly)
Server is coming online now, should be online by the time you read this.
The issue was with a conflict between the grappling hook plugin and something else I could not determine. The only fix was to remove the grappling hook plugin for the moment, I hope no one is terribly offended but I had to get it going somehow.
Stability should be rock solid with that little game-destroying bug out of the way... Dademon will have to talk to me about the plugin if he really wants it.
I'm sorry it took this long to get back to you guys.
There's a real mess going on with the server right now, as you may have guessed. However I've taken the past 4 hours to basically guarantee things will work. I found numerous horrible, horrible bugs in my software and hopefully there aren't anymore.
As a webhost, I'm embarrassed at the performance today. Needless to say I will compensate for this in some way as soon as I get it running.
Oh, Maybe these bugs could explain how people were buying items for rediculous amounts of mine cash. At first i was thinking it was a hacker. when should we see it up again?
Yes, there were some glitches in the system that people took advantage of from what the logs show. I'm reverting the entire thing to this morning. While the changes I made theoretically would help stability, they ate so much ram in chucksums and such that they crashed the server regularly. My new logic is this: We're better off with a slightly glitchy system with tons of ram, than a perfect system with almost no ram due to checksums and high-end operating systems. :smile.gif: Besides, bugs are cheaper to fix than buying new ram. :wink.gif:
In other words, we're better with what he had last night, only with an extra helping of ram. That's probably able to run for about 3 days between crashes, more than reasonable for the moment.
It will be back up at 5:00PM today, as this reverting takes a lot of time. Maybe earlier, but no guarantees. Watch this space and I will let you know.
Downtime may run as late as 7:00PM PST, due to me getting home late. It may also be as early as 5:00PM originally stated. It all depends on how smooth this transition goes. We're deep in the guts here, people.
Stand by, tomorrow will be a great day. :smile.gif:
If you're planning on playing today, forget it. Get some sleep and get up tomorrow instead. Dademon and me have decided to port our data to another OS for better stability and ram usage. This will take a good portion of the evening, but will certainly be done by morning.
We may not launch in the morning as planned. You see, I finished the server, but our power just went out and the UPS is ticking down slowly. It's a nasty windstorm too, a tree fell right outside my door, scary as heck.
As soon as power comes back, we'll start the server, but in the meantime I can't give any estimates beyond "tomorrow" as the power company is probably going to be overloaded with line repair work. :sad.gif:
Sorry everyone, but you won't believe the server when you see it. It's blazing fast and super stable (this time I actually tested it :biggrin.gif: )
EDIT: She's online now. :smile.gif:
EDIT: Ok, should be working now. Sorry for the delay, had some minor remaining issues I just felt like smashing. All done now though! :smile.gif:

I'm thinking this save is corrupted. I may have to revert back one hour.
EDIT: ...Nope, something's really wrong here. Stand by. I'm taking her down for a whole hour to figure this out.
You'll live, and be stronger for it.

The Server is located in Pacific Standard Time, so if you're EST, its 3 hours more. 8pm Tonight EST is the target time!
Sorry about the delay, but it's for the betterment of the server!

Same map, just faster.
Power came back online, I'm working on finishing the server now. Expect her to be online sometime this afternoon PST. :smile.gif:
