Really! No more /home :sad.gif: That means people in way off towns will like never leave! Another reason why everyone on the server needs to pull together for a Super Mega City! If we do do this we need to start on Fail's city because it is so far off that griefers won't find it.
Looks like /home and /spawn still work. That's good.
Gonna do my best to mop up the water on the highway, then I'll see about making the entrance better and/or multiple highway entrances at the spawn city.

Well guys and gals, I had fun with this server, but if the mods are the only solution to all-nighter griefers, Im done. I have put more time being a mod than I have building anything since I started on this server, and no offence Intelli, I feel like its just not worth the trouble anymore. I hope the griefer problem is fixable sooner or later, but till then, tata.
I'm sad that you're leaving catzoo, you did so much for us. I wish you could do more building and less modding here and still stay. You must realise that as the number of griefers banned increases, the number of griefers that could still come exponentially decreases. They aren't gonna be spending 10euros a pop just to grief the same server again. gl hf either way!
Here's a recent creation of mine in the far off land of Mine Realm. Me and few friends have been building over here the past couple days doing what we can to avoid the griefy weefs. Loving the server, hating the new update, no more boats.
i) No real compromising with regards to minimizing griefers, unless you have 24/7 police.
ii) Whitelisting will require people to register, but griefers can still register and grief over time.
Conclusion: Keep server Public/Pure (no whitelist), but in batch operation.
a) Let's not whitelist, but EXCEL-LIST all the current regulars on the server. Get admins to write down these names on an excel spreadsheet for future use.
:cool.gif: Then allow public registration until a quota of say, 100 people are met. Once 100 new players are in - turn off public registration temporarily. Then spend time and check up on those 100 people. This gives mods ~1 weeks to screen the 100 people who may or may not grief, and filter out people who may or may not PLAY in the server. Repeat.
c) After someone from the batch of 100 people has been playing in the server for a month, you can promote them to the EXCEL-LIST.
This allows the mods to reduce their workload in the server, while allowing the public to join the server freely every 1-2 weeks. Only thing I can think of for the moment without having 24/7 police OR complete whitelisting.
This is a multi purposed post, on behave of myself (Gen0cide), my brother (Jarlod174), and my irl neighbor (Ziidd).
1.) This is our first server we tried upon getting the game, our first online minecraft experience, and since we joined about a week ago, it's been great. We've had minimal issues with griefers ourselves, and have caused no issues to mods/admins/owner thus far.
2.) Griefing has become a problem. How serious a problem is decided by the reaction of the server to said griefers. Right now, we're letting it become a 'serious problem' by doing exactly what they want. Giving up, begging for a roll back, and, in some cases, encouraging the damage to remain to "Show intelli how bad it is". I have no suggestions on how to fix said problem. 24/7 moderators is an unrealistic goal, as much as people may love the game, they get burned out or feel it's not worth the time to do an unthanked/unpaid job. I understand intelli's decision against whitelisting as it would stifle growth and creativity. As would build rights. I do not have some insanely good idea for how to fix it, nor am I advocating myself as a mod (I've been admin on a CS server and it became more of a chore than a game to me). My only advice for the the problem at hand (and not to get all red blooded patriotic on yall) is to rebuild. 9/11 happened, did we decide to nuke NYC to start over? Did we just say, "Well screw that, let's just leave the rubble." I'm pretty sure we rebuilt and showed them that their attacks did nothing to phase us... If you're too lazy to maintain your construction (as crappy as it is that you are forced to in the first place) then that's your problem. If I remember right, as soon as I realized skycity was burning, it took AntiGriefer, another guy, and me less than an hour to put out the fires. Of course, those buildings made of wood were destroyed, but the one tower made of stone stood unharmed in the least. (Maybe try building in less burnable material?)
3.) A server reset would help the smallest fraction of people. Not to humiliate, but it's the same fraction of people who thought their structures were safe near spawn. My brother, neighbor, and I have been in the process of building a massive structure roughly 65 X 65 X 32 (2 floors) which has taken us nearly 2 days of material gathering, and 2 more of actual construction. Currently all work has been paused until we know if it will be destroyed to quell the few (but most vocal) people crying for a reroll because their structures have been damaged and are unwilling to repair. If a roll back is to occur, the three of us will unfortunately be parting from this server to find one that has a more stable future.
And this last part is a message to Intelli on only my behalf.
From what I've gathered through a recent phone conversation (as I am currently unable to get to the game at the moment), those you've chosen for positions of power have failed you. I have no physical proof, though you should be provided plenty in PM's. I sympathize with you, as you obviously have enough stress dealing with the server's day to day operations in what time you can devote to it, but I stress that when you choose your next batch of people to trust, trust the ones that are not the kings and queens of the chat. Find those working diligently, pouring hours of work into their creations, those who have something to lose from a server wide break down. Those will be the most trusted, no playing, mods who won't give up and leave chests full of banned objects at spawn.
I post this at the risk of being unjustly banned by a raging mod (who has actually quit but has not have that power stripped from them yet). As I will not have time at all today to even get on the game, assume that if my gamer name is on the ban list, it's for this reason.
Genocide
TLDR version = current mods are too immature and power tripping for their jobs, griefers suck but you have to live with it, and holy crap I wouldn't be able to run this server if I were in Intelli's shoes

While this is true, you gotta think of the number of protental griefers there still are out there --"
Take the Red Faction Gents. They know how to hide their purposes, and I been to servers they griefed up worse than this one. While we were doing great, it takes just one to ruin a game.
In other news, while I wont be on as much as I have been lately, I will attempt to mod to the best of my abilities, seeing as we lost the other night mod, whom I will miss.
Disabled placing water buckets, lava buckets, and other water/lava source blocks.
Also disabled a few other items, such as placing mob spawners, and ice blocks.

This is a public server, you can build by just connecting and finding open land!

We'll be taking it down for a bit during the night to perform maintenance.
(EDIT) Well Nvm, Guess Catzoos gotta come back --
Have a nice day!
