So, it's a new server. For now, it's just a free build.
Features are as follows:

Rules:

[*:1idag4sq]Don't use client-side mods or hacks (especially inventory hacks)
[*:1idag4sq]Watch your language
[*:1idag4sq]Don't threaten other players (especially the staff)
[*:1idag4sq]Don't make 1x1 pillars
Consequences for breaking the rules vary. Joining the server assumes you have read and understood these rules, thus ignorance is no excuse for a ban appeal. If you have a problem or issue with a player, the correct procedure is to /msg one of the staff, post here, or PM/email me. If you have a problem with a staff member, /msg/PM/email me. Do NOT complain in the public chat.
The good news is that I've added two features to the server. The first is auto-backups every 3 hours. The second is daily auto-restarts (currently, they should happen around 4 am MDT) that should help keep the server running smoothly.
The bad news, is that the computer running the server threw a huge snit fit when I restarted it last night. I'm not sure if it caused the second problem, or if the two are unrelated, but basically I had to actually use one of the backups. The server rolled back to around midnight MDT. I'm not even sure if anyone was on then. If you were, and you lost work, I'm truly sorry. Hopefully this won't happen again.
As a side note, I'm working on a multi-level maze for the server as a kind of game. There will be prizes at the end of each level, consisting of hard-to-find materials like brick and mossy cobblestone and the like. I'll throw up another post when it's player ready.
Also, I do plan on installing the update Notch is rolling out soon, but not if it wipes out the map unless it's really super amazing (if that is the case, I think I can still save player inventories...maybe).
Lastly, if there is anything you want to see on the server (mods, or more stuff along the lines of the maze idea) post it up here and I'll try to figure out how to incorporate it.
According to this thread, the new Halloween update should work with the old save, although not necessarily perfectly (ie, new chunks generated via exploring may not match up perfectly with the old chunks). So don't worry about all the awesome stuff y'all have built.
As a side note, I'm working on a multi-level maze for the server as a kind of game. There will be prizes at the end of each level, consisting of hard-to-find materials like brick and mossy cobblestone and the like. I'll throw up another post when it's player ready.

According to Notch the update will not wipe out the map, but will apply biomes to any post-update chunks generated by exploring.
That maze sounds awesome, where are you going to put it?

Coupon, the server can be buggy sometimes. Occasionally I notice it takes some people two or three tries to log in sometimes. Also, if you could post the error message that would be helpful. Thanks.
dflemstr, I don't have a rule on giant skyscrapers? Just make it look aesthetically pleasing and we're good.
As far as the update is concerned, if I can get it up tonight I will. I'm just as excited as you all are to kick the tires. Sweden is only ~8 hours ahead though, so it may not officially roll out until tomorrow. I fully intend to have it up by tomorrow evening at the latest, as I have little else to do.
As far as the maze goes, the first level is nearly completely finished. I just need to put a chest with a prize at the end. I'll post up hints to the location when I get that finished. Also, I'll take suggestions as to what the prize tiers should be.

Not that that's what we've been waiting for, but it really does help out from an admin standpoint (and for building with lava).
As soon as runecraft is working (and they are working on an update) I'll post in here to let y'all know that it's been installed.
EDIT: According to Llama, all the old runes will still be functional after the update.
