Everything you build should be underwater. !kit repairkit will give you a ton of glass, the Llamacraft mod is on so you can theoretically smelt more as needed, and expansions to either one of the two existing colonies are welcome.
There are several domes containing tree and wheat farms, animals spawn in said domes and there are several seafloor mines as well. That means everything you need to live underwater indefinitely, provided you make careful use of it, is present. The aim is to be self sufficient, and to go to the surface as infrequently as possible. Once Notch properly fixes powered minecarts in SMP and I finish that transoceanic railway (edit; railway now complete) there could even be lucrative trade between the two colonies. Lots of possibilities once certain bugs are taken care of. For the time being explore and practice building structures, cultivating crops and mining underwater. I'd love to see it catch on.
Ya and the problem is for some reason the !kit wasnt working for me so you can't fill a hole with dirt or sand it just gets pushed down need the damn glass! but its bad, real bad, which is unfortuant because it looked amazing otherwise
I've actually been constructing a whitelist of trusted players this entire time. Once it's sufficiently long, I'll restrict it to just them. Most of you already know who you are.
By the way, the transoceanic express is now complete. It'll no longer be a pain in the ass to get from Brotopia to Brolivia, provided you can put up with the (pretty buggy at the moment) powered minecarts.
Tried out the server and it seems good, just I find alot of holes from griefers. Also the command for glass doesn't seem to work for me. Meh. I'm probably not gonna be in the whitelist, since I'm gonna guess it's already to late to 'help' since I'm guessing the list is pretty big now..Meh. I'll just satisfy myself with imaginary

My client seems to crash every time I join and play for a few minutes, and one of my friends has the same problem Is there a reason for this, or at least a fix?
Kits don't work. I'm sorry. Nothing I can do about it. Apparently the wrapper I'm using has incompatibilities with the new server .jar.
I also can't do anything about the frequent freezing/crashing. I have tried using just the bare server.jar with no wrapper, but those same problems persist. It's related to the fact that the Minecraft.net server is being swamped right now and Notch isn't around to fix it.
Lastly, I can't do anything about the griefers except reset the map from a backup every so often which erases anything you've added. Ultimately there are a few potential solutions to this issue;
#1. Restrict access to just a few trusted friends, which I don't want to do.
#2. Notch adds a bunch of autoban criteria you can customize, like "auto ban any player who breaks glass" or "autoban any player who sets fire to a wood block". This would be an ideal solution imo, at least for specialty servers that use a lot of blocks of specific types for large structures.
#3. The server could offer notifications any time a player is engaging in "griefer-like" behavior, i.e. setting fire to things, breaking a certain number of player-created block types, that sort of thing. The admin could then make the decision as to whether or not to ban them.
#3. Notch might also empower admins to restrict the ability of anyone to create/destroy blocks until they are deemed trustworthy, similar to giving someone 'voice' in an IRC server.
Get these two server mods/wrappers. They're anti-griefing, have a diamond point system, and i believe, if you're smart with java, you can modify them to have a !kit or whatever: viewtopic.php?f=1012&t=28314 viewtopic.php?f=1012&t=23483
My method of allowing access to my server (District Mine) has worked quite well. Give people access on a by-application basis. I've whitelisted more than 30 names and haven't had a single griefer.
i dont see the point of making a whole server underwater. that is just crying for terrorism. imagine, all your glass tunnels lined with tnt. one button. an unsuspecting mod steps on it and bam! World dead. mod has explaining to do.

You don't see the point? It's ****ing cool, that's why.
I'm liking what i have seen so far, my client crashed twice but now its stable, and i would like to help with the fixing of holes, but i find only ONE problem with this solution:

What if you accidentally misplace a glass block? then what will you do? leave it forever? Unless there is a way to allow certain players to edit blocks on the "touch and ban" list, which IDK if there ever would be, that is the only problem that i see.
Looks great otherwise! I like what i see!

The game's box-like representation of reality is cute and definitely charming...until a horde of cute box-like skeletons rip your cute little box-like arms from your cute little box-like body.
