I was on the second ip long enough to try to warp to Ore's ship and I died in the process. I'm still OP, and the warps exist, the map seems all screwed up though. Oh and the server was down last time I tried.

Sorry about the downtime in the middle of the day here (around 8pm I think), Someone tripped over my laptops adapter cord and unplugged it. It ran out of juice shortly after, while I was out having a nerd party with some friends. Didn't notice till I came home at 1030 T.T
I've taken the server down, because it was not performing well. With one measly person it "can't keep up". Probably because a quarter of my machine is being taken up by a VM hosting a class project I needed to do, and the other half (of my RAM at least) is taken by Windows 7, but still.
Tomorrow at midnight there will be a dedicated wired (aka not wirelessly connected) server without a GUI (faster) will be up. I promise.
So you were able to actually get to a part of the original map? interesting... I really need to fix this ****!
On a completely unrelated but awesome note, I was able to fix my TV!!! (Rear projection Hitachi with convergence issue.)
Will you be transfering the map back to red when he returns? So we keep all we have done?
Yes, unless he decides otherwise. He has the pants.

This reminds me of a time when I said "Hey Red, I heard you might be leaving, you should let me buy hosting for the server"
He responded "Plans are in motion, things are going to be better than ever"
Now I feel like I've been trolled. :tongue.gif:
Sorry, I wasn't ready to host yet so I scrambled a server together in the 20 minutes I had. I've never used Hey0's, Nor have I taken a pre-existing world and added it into a server before. I've run a basic personal server for three people, that's it.

I try to leave and EVERYTHING plunges into turmoil.
Garsh.
Sorry T.T I was hoping for a day or two after I get the new box to set up and test.

A ton of work went into Red's server. What is up with the new server having only a Safehouse? Also, who is Fireproofjeans? No offense, but I don't believe we've met.
No, probably not. I've only been on this server for a few weeks, and the last week I was absent due to Final exams. I'm a 20 year old CompSci student who has a linux server running in a virtual machine on his windows laptop that's hogging system resources and making my makeshift server suck harder than obsidian - and obsidian's pretty hard.
Orelinde knows me (out of the mods).

hey fire, can you add me to the whitelist?
If you don't know me i'm sure people can vouch for me.
Tssssssss
Did you try logging in? One of my friends was able to despite me not adding him to the whitelist. Don't try now, server is down until Sunday. (Saturday at midnight)
It's loading our map. But instead of loading the world chunks, it creates new ones and overwrites the old ones. Lucky for me I made a backup before tinkering with it >.>
Google was less than helpful, so I'm on my own for fixing this unless someone's an amazing genius.
Not sure if I can fix it, but dammit I'll try!
[EDIT] And yes, I'm working on this at four in the morning. Slavedrivers the lot of you! :3
i sent my full hmod folder.
and now i'm going to have very limited contact with you fine folk. i'll be on the road in a few hours.
godspeed, folks.
All right everyone, now it works! perfectly! everything is as it was.
It's running at the moment on my laptop, and it will continue to be hosted from there until I have transferred the files *successfully* to the new machine and tested for issues.
[Edit] When I say "perfectly" I mean the world loads. It's still very slow from the looks of it, and it's still running off my laptop.
[Double Edit] All right, I've given the server more juice (Set it's priority to high in windows) So it should perform much better now. I'm also hooking it up with a wire to my router, so there shouldn't be any more random disconnects.
Sorry about all of the problems so far everyone, It will go much more smoothly from now on.
[Triple Edit] Just called the guy I'm buying the computer off of, and he still has one. I'm buying it at 7pm tonight, and I'll likely change the server over tomorrow.
Wow, I take a little break from the server and everything goes to hell
Not anymore, Hell froze over. :biggrin.gif:
Just got the new computer, starting work on it. Should hopefully be ready for tomorrow.
Server is still up, btw. IP = 24.69.71.239
[EDIT] Instead of posting a new post every time I have an update I'll just add edits until someone replies.
So I cannot keep the server in the form it is if I wish to run it exactly like the old one. In the interest of not mucking up a good thing, I am not using linux. Instead I'll be using a windows based server.
I just finished burning the fedora disk too... T.T Server experienced a minute bit of downtime between 10:36 and 11:05. Nobody was on and I needed to copy the map! (And then I got distracted.)
You all missed Boomshanka night. We blew things up and lit stuff on fire.
Now it's all on the new server. I'm limited by my upload speed, but It should be okay for sub-10 players. If we magically become super popular, I'll talk to my ISP about moving my box to them for a better connection.
HEREBY ANNOUNCING FREE-FOR-ALL ON THE CURRENT MAP!!! Everyone is being opped, encouraged to blow EVERYTHING up, and have fun! Note that once all your TNT magically goes away and you lose the ability to spawn more, the official server has taken over. This should be sometime tomorrow. Whitelist is still in effect - only current players get to have fun :3 (Psst, this would probably be a good time to test cannons on servers if you haven't already!

Specifically the "Less system hungry servers" part. That means that if it continuse to lag, it's my internet connection and I need to look at my options. I might be able to have the machine housed directly at shaw's place, but I may just invest in a connection with better upload speeds.
[EDIT] I'm wondering, should I make a new thread for this? a lot of our people seem to have left, probably because of the whole server-didn't-work-for-two-days fiasco. Also, even though I have a message asking people who try to access the server to email me, it's not explained very well.
Plus this topic's probably on page 18 or something by now.
