Are we actually allowing people to call stuff for Sinnoh already?...
No, we're not. Fatcat is just getting a fat head and trying to get ahead of us all.
Hoenn is, contrasted with Sinnoh, comparatively easy - we don't even know how we're going to split up Sinnoh into maps. Three at least? I don't know, the third map would be kinda bare with just Snowpoint... (not to mention getting some place to fit that whole area of Mt Coronet inside will be a major headache...!)
No, I feel that people calling areas on East Hoenn started to ruin the West; everyone was going off on about what areas they wanted to claim when there was still work to do in the West, and the focus on the east made people stop working on the west.
If any claiming of areas of Sinnoh are going to happen, they're not going to happen until East Hoenn is 80% complete, and only then if we've figured out how to split up Sinnoh into the allotted minecraft map size.
West of Mt. Coronet, have everything like it is. Stop at Mt. Coronet. Newmoon, Fullmoon, and Iron Island will be unusually close to the coast, because there's no way we're going to run another server just for them.
North of Mt. Coronet is Snowpoint and the Battle Region and prehaps the Elite Four.
East of Mt. Coronet is everything else and prehaps the Elite four.
And yes, I'm a fat head. But I sure am claiming them the split-second East Hoenn is 80% done.

I refer you to the work I did with Mt Chimney for looking at how to do Mt Pyre. The inside I would say should come secondary to the outside, which is a location that is big part of the storyline. (The hard part will be getting the outside built while maintaining the integrity of the surrounding sea route intact - I honestly don't know how to do that, which is why I said I'd be staying away from that :/)
Also, I've had to make some Omen changes to Hoenn West, so please don't work on it until Bidoof has updated it...
EDIT: West can be worked in again.
On the East side, I had the Safari Zone of Hoenn open for whatever reason, and decided to mark off the area just because. It's a reeeeally big chunk of land :ohmy.gif: (The coast of that region as it is now doesn't actually make sense, since that entire border from West Hoenn is land, while the north-western corner of East Hoenn had water put in there... tsk tsk tsk)
Not without copy-pasting through every layer you've built and renaming them all. Trust me, it's a huge pain in the ass to do - the more layers you have to shift downwards, the longer it takes.
My first thoughts: "Wow, east Sinnoh is a helluva lot bigger than I thought."
After cropping to near-exact routes, here are my estimates of direct tile-to-block resizing:
West Sinnoh: ~321 wide by ~ 378 high
East Sinnoh: ~476 wide by ~287 high (Roughly 540 wide when Route 224 is included - I counted the tiles from the map in my guide book.)
(All these estimates are based on a tile size of 16 pixels squared, which means that a 512 x 512 minecraft map would be 8192 pixels x 8192 pixels at full resolution before any resizing.)
Snowpoint area I can't estimate the Minecraft area because it is so vastly incomplete. What I originally thought was that we would need to separate Mt Coronet from East and West sinnoh and have that large chunk of mostly vertical maps as part of the third Snowpoint map, which would end up being a length-wise map, with a height longer than 512 if necessary.
Mt Coronet... just looking at the blurry, blurry pixels in this book fills me with dread. Magma Base and that Underwater Cave complex are going to be nothing compared to the logistical nightmares of making everything within Mt Coronet fit. D:
I don't think that the map Mudson found is going to be able to get us much of anywhere, even if we were to find it at a higher resolution. It looks to be the game map from the front few pages of a Platinum strategy guide; can't tell which guide it is, though. (All of the strategy guide map scans on bulbapedia seem like they're from an inferior guide? The maps in my Prima guides look much better than those!)
Also, on that note, I just now realized what Cieran meant about the squished and resized routes. So, yeah... ignore those estimates I made, because they're worthless now. D8
Oh yeah, BTW I thought I should inform you all of why I apparently haven't been working on Hoenn East. I haven't been working on Hoenn because I'm preparing for Sinnoh. :V
While most of Sinnoh is indeed mapped, it is also quite inaccurate from route to route. I've found the codes necessary to produce maps similar to what is already seen on Bulbapedia, and I plan on making the screenshots for the overworld myself, since nobody else seems to have been able to do the whole thing yet. The unfortunate part is as I plan on making the Sinnoh map from Platinum that I need to basically play through the game again to get to all the places - while walking through walls is well and all, that's no good if I have to walk into the middle of a big grass patch to take a screenshot and end up fighting a lv 30 pokemon with a lv 15 pokemon!
(Also... I've been wanting to replay Platinum for a while now, I just didn't want to erase my Platinum's game progress :wink.gif:)
I've been attempting to combine the east and west maps, its not easy. Especially so when the maps are being constantly changed. But, I almost have a test version ready that has both sides.
All routes on Hoenn West are now finished :biggrin.gif:. Naturally there's still a lot of prettification to be done, as well as adding trees...
Man, those routes look so big, open, and unfinished without that grass in there :V
Makes me think of Sinnoh, where they have those 5x5 squares of grass at least once a route for pokeradaring... that's going to look super-unfinished between route completion and map completion, when we get to turn off trees >.<
I'd like everyone to give a warm welcome to our newest OP, Aldurg! Since nobody had claimed it, I gave him the task of building the Safari Zone in the east, and he seems to be doing very well on it so far. :smile.gif:
I don't know about Mossdeep, but I know that since the Shoal Cave (or w/e it's called) to the north of Mossdeep is technically a dungeon, I naturally have first dibs on it... <.<
This is one place in the game where we have the ability to abuse the mechanics of Minecraft - the place is flooded, but we can still walk around/through it as normal. Placing sponges to keep the integrity of the actual lower floors will be the tricky part, but I know I can do it.
Whenever the servers are down, we'll have one of us post when it's back up again and what the new IPs are, again, if they do change. (Hunter suspects the IPs on Bidoof's host server have changed yet again... :V)
I remember reading a sticky about some server online/offline code for threads. I'll bring it up with Bidoof next he comes online, see if we can't add it. (It would sure be helpful to let us know when that stuff breaks again :V)
And thusly you do not Have OP :biggrin.gif:
