I apologize ahead of time if this topic has been answered before...I've looked and searched and haven't been able to find anything relevant to my issue.
I run a server for myself and 2 other people. One person connects locally and the other person does not.
We have had no problems with the server for about 2 weeks but a few days ago my router was reset on accident and now the person who does not connect locally to my server is unable to get in.
I have a dynamic ip address and I gave him the new address but he is still unable to connect. I am at a loss as to why he suddenly can not connect. I am unable to create a static ip address on my laptop for some reason. I've tried 2 different techniques and neither work...I believe it may have something to do with my service provider.
As far as I was aware the only thing that should change would be the ip address if there was a modem reset.
The default port is still showing that it's forwarded but when I use canyouseeme.org the connection times out now.
My firewall settings have not changed. Port forwarding is (or was at least) correct because we have been playing on the server for about 2 weeks. The only variable that I can see that changed is the modem/router resetting.
I have never run a server before and am just getting a hang of ip addresses and so forth but I have no clue what the problem is and I'm running in circles trying to figure it out. If anyone is willing and able to help me I'd really appreciate it.
