Roleplaying: an overdone explanation
In case you didn't know, Roleplaying, put simply, is an activity where players act out roles of fictional
characters. You your own character, and decide how they think and behave.
For instance you might play as a Dwarfish blacksmith who has a strong dislike for Elves.
Your character plays in a fictional world decided by the GM (Or in Minecrafts case: the Admin)
You play according to how you've made your character. For instance if you are playing as the example Dwarf and
and you became wounded, and an Elf offered you healing you would probably refuse.
It's quite simple and very entertaining once you've gotten the hang of it
STORY/Background/Setting
The land of Stymire is ruled by the Enclave of Waters, who worship Life itself. They declared magic and weapons blasphemous due to the dangers that they bring and imprison anyone who dares to oppose. At first people saw this as a good thing, no more conflict, no more fear. However, soon the people began to grow suspicious of the Enclave, and what if neighbouring countries attacked? How would they defend themselves? The people tried to reason with the Enclave, but they held all the power, and they could still use magic.
Now and today, the Enclave rule without so much as the need to lift a finger, people fall submissively in line and some races are even outcast for simply being magical in nature. But all of this could change. The Enclave recently lifted the isolation law, and have let traders enter the land. Along with people like you.
Races
Currently we have:
Humans - Really like you don't know what humans are?
Elves - Originating from the dense Woods, Elves now live alongside humans as the Upper-class.
Dwarves - Skilled, hard workers of the Mines. They prefer to isolate themselves and ignore the other races.
Orcs/Trolls - Tribal folk that live up in the Hills of Arugar, their 'physical' culture is often mistaken for barbarism.
Goblins - living close to the Orcs, they are quick on their feet and quick with their hands.
Constructs - mechanical golems built by Dwarves to be servants.
Demons/angels - maybe
Undead -
Selkies/Sahagin - [s]FISH PEOPLE[/s] An aquatic race that are surprisingly advanced that rival even Dwarves.
If there is a race not here that you think should be playable tell me.
Rules
No griefing, trolling, flaming, yadda yadda.
Accept your disadvantages.
Act according to your character, don't do things your character wouldn't do, or can't.
Don't try to win at everything, a powerful character does not mean a good character.
Locations
PLEASE note that this is a multi-map server, each location is it's own map. We do not have a single, large RP map like other servers.
Locations include:
Capital, The human city
Hydrolis, The Enclave Water Temple
Mines - A hole for dwarves to sit in.
Forest - Where all the elves are at
Arugar - The mountain tribe of Orcs and Goblins
Sea - Home to selkies and sahagin
Anyone is free to pitch in ideas and help make this better.
We are currently working on:
Combat.
Introduction
In one day we managed to get a fairly good system going. Now it is going to sound horribly complicated to people who have not played it yet, but once know what to do, everything becomes simple, quick and most importantly, entertaining. If anything here isn't clear, or you want something changed or you just have an idea, feel free to tell me.
Engaging
To start a fight [s]Insult their mother[/s] place a tnt block. A 11x11 space around that tnt block is the Battle Field.
If you leave this field, you have fled the battle. This means that you lose.
Each player must place a coloured block (or blocks that stand out from the natural terrain.) to mark their positions. This way if you decide to move about, your 'in battle position' can be kept.
[s]One player, preferably an OP, will need 1 d6 (Six sided die)[/s] We now have a "/roll" command.
Rolling
When the dice is rolled, a high roll is better. A roll of 1, 2 or 3 is a 'loss'. A roll of 4, 5 or 6 is a 'win'
Actions
Each player gets 2 actions per turn. They can choose between, moving, attacking, skills, and fleeing.
You may move and then attack, or you may attack and then move. You may not move one space, attack, and then move again, regardless of your move amount.
You may use a skill and move, or vice-versa. You may not use a skill and attack in the same turn.
Fleeing using both your actions, but allows you to move an additional space on top of your current move value.
Movement
The basic movement is 3 spaces. You cannot move diagonally. Some races have movement bonuses or penalties. Moving through water reduces your movement down to 1.
You cannot move onto a space which is 2 or more blocks higher than your current space. You can however, jump down from a spaces as high as you want, but you will take damage if it is 3 or more blocks high. Take 1 Damage for each block above 2.
Attacking
When you attack someone, three dice rolls are needed.
Hit, Dodge, Damage.
Once to see how well the attacking player hits, another roll to see if they dodge, and if the attack hits, a final roll to see how much damage is dealt.
Example: Jared_Miller attacks Ming. Jared rolls a 5 to hit. Ming then rolls a 4 to dodge. This means that the attack hits. Jared then rolls again for damage, 3. Ming loses 3hp.
You cannot attack diagonally. If the 'to hit' and dodge rolls end up being equal, re-roll them both.
Ranged Attacking
When casting a ranged spell or shooting with a bow, similar rolls are made to that of Melee attacks.
However move and distance factor into it. If you use a ranged attack or skill, you cannot move more than 1space during that turn. This prevents players kiting (shooting then running when their opponent gets close)
Skills and spells
Each character make take 2 skills or spells. When using a skill/spell in combat, the character uses up a certain amount of Skill points or SP for short. The standard amount of SP is 3.
Taking Damage
When a player receives a successful hit, they receive damage and lose HealthPoints(hp). The base HP is 12, and once they are all out of HP, they die. If a player has a bonus to defence, they subtract the damage taken by the amount of defence they have.
Basic Stats
12hp, 2action points, 3Skill Points, 3move
+0acc, +0defence +0dodge
Racial stats
Humans - Humans get nothing! They don't suffer from any penalties either. (But they are rich! $500 more for you)
Orcs - Orcs get +2damage -1accuracy (Orcs are strong but suffer from lack of finesse)
Elves - +1accuracy -3hp +1dodging. (While Elves are very dexterous, they tend to be on the fragile side)
Undead: -1move +3hp (Undead may lurch a bit, but they don't feel pain and have no vitals.)
Dwarves: +1defence -1move (Dwarves tend to be heavily armoured)
Selkie/Sahagin: Can move normally in water, +1SP -1defence (Ever tried to swim wearing armour?)
Goblins: -1damage, +1move (Goblins are nimble but weak)
Construct: -1dodge +1SP (Constructs are not very flexible)
Demons: Can walk through lava with no penalty, -1SP (Note:Needs more thought)
Weapon types
You may only have 1 weapon. Depending on what type it is changes certain rules.
Generic Melee: Swords, clubs they all work the same.
Polearm: Allows you to attack at 1 extra range and attack diagonally. If you attack a target directly next to you, halve the damage dealt.
Bow: See Ranged Attacking above.
Fists: You may attack twice, but halve the damage done. (Round halved damage up)
NOTES
Rules may change at any time. Still under construction
Sounds good ming, there are many RP servers suddenly crawling out of the woodwork. This is by no means a bad thing, as I find a chief problem of RP servers is overcrowding with castles and such that peopel insisnt on building, perhaps, since these are all in their infancty, we shuld all consolodate some common rules to allow for interaction between servers?
That sounds like a great idea Comrade. I always enjoy co-operation as it often brings grand things, but what type of interaction are you talking about here?
Well, if the general rules and setting are the same (lets face it, fantasy is fantasy) then each RP server might be considered a land, and one could most certainly travel from one to another (there is not reason one cant do this anyway, but it's a bit more fun if it's tied together more).
Events in one continent or land would maybe even have some effects on another, fi it is big enough, like a natural disaster or empire crumbling to dust. You'd have to talk with Frost and maybe Aidan about it (I think Blood wanted to do an RP on ~INFINITY~ also)
Blast it all, you go and host a RP server, and now they're pooping up all over the place.
Joking aside, this looks like it will be a very nice RP.
Haha, thanks. I didn't notice how many there were untill after I decided to host one.

I like the look of this very much, I built the mech in main when no one was there so I coudlnt do much, i would love to help you with building, story and overall the rp.
I've seen your mech and made you builder. Nice job on it.
I definitely want to be in as a selkie or mer-mish character, i love the sea! and i also like Johan's idea of multi-server Role-playing, and would love to see Frost's and this one work those details out.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
The game's box-like representation of reality is cute and definitely charming...until a horde of cute box-like skeletons rip your cute little box-like arms from your cute little box-like body.
I'm so sorry. My router is a piece of garbage and not only does it disconnect everything, but then it insists on changing my IP, and because of that I muddled the ports and forgot to change them.

I willll need to wait until Frost gets back first, but I want to see it happen too.
The Orc and Goblin city literaly flew up over night. With the number of people the server is starting to attract I think you'll have no problem filling your maps.
and there is still plenty of space in those hills for other things.
Is everything in place no for the Role-Playing goodness to begin in ernest?
Hurfglible. Why do all the best things happen on my server when I am asleep!? Great job people.

The Twisted one is the last great oak tree to have survived longer than the Enclave itself, they worship it for the life it has given.
None of the OPs told you what I think about treees did they? Still I like the idea of the Enclave having a sacred site outside their temple.

Heya,
Ok i needed to post the city info:
Well, firs of all the name is: Avonthon
Race: Human-elven
City Boss: Rangerblood (Brad) Race: Human Special: Assasain.
Great history, rare buildings. A combination with Tree wood, white walls and orange roofs.
This city has a market plain in the middle. Around the market plain are houses with or without shop.
The city has a big mine at the river.
The river is quitly big and is abit deep. its like city/city/river/city So at one point the river goes into the city and a bridge to the other side of the city is there.
The city himself is big, it looks nice and clean. We got a forrest side and a mountainly side at the end of the river.
Have fun makign the map :biggrin.gif: And the size is: 256 128 256
Thanks!

Yes! We are ready to Role-Play.
EDIT: Are you still taking people for the RP?
We will always be taking people in for the RP. Players are free to join and drop out as they please.
