PC Gamer has recently made an article featuring a prerelease version of the Halloween Minecraft Update. There are several videos posted there and one of them depicts interaction with the golden mineral seen in previous Halloween update screenshots.
It's been nicknamed Australium before, but now that the game is out, we need to come up with some names for this stuff. Obviously, we can't really decide until the update is really released, but we can come up with some good ideas.
What we know about it
It glows slightly
It appears as golden crystals suspended in a brown dirt.
It makes the same noise as shattering glass when mined.
It grows in large deposits out of walls.
Based on this, I'd think it's something like Pyrite (a.k.a. fools gold) because of it's golden appearance and the crystalline noise it makes when it breaks, but there are probably better names that we could come up with not based on real minerals. What do you think that it should be called?

Aye!
though we have and
You're a silly person, it's named Australium as a TF2 reference, not because it has anything to do with Australia.
The National Socialist of minecraftforums, since 2010!
friend - "Don't do it! Crime doesn't pay!"
me - "So? I'm not doing it for the money."
I reaaally don't like the sound of Australium. Kind of ruins the suspension of disbelief by including terms based on real-world things.
Australium is a fictitious metal.
Yush
THIS
It can't be tanned?
