I hope notch is planning to make a special block you can place that has hole(s) in it so you can shoot things without worrying about bats
In other words something that we already have, halfsteps? Slanted stairs work as well.
Pretend that the cobble stone stairs are really just the 1x1 stairs and the obby is the wall.
We NEED mobs that can get in our bases. Otherwise it's way too easy. If you don't want bats getting in, you should secure your base more. This is survival, son.
I had a bunch of ideas about mobs, and a few of them could get into bases. I'll copy paste them.
Bats - Can fly through 1x1 spaces.
Mutant Mole - Can dig through dirt, sand, and gravel.
Herobrine - Follows you, even appears on peaceful. On peaceful, if you turn around he will disappear. On other difficulties, he will attack.
Ghosts - Only killable when it's bright enough, can go through walls.
Golems - Can break wood, cobblestone, brick, and smoothstone, but only spawn deep underground.
Red Creeper - Only spawns in hell, bigger, with a bigger blast, and has horns.
Blue Creeper - A friendly creeper, if you kill it, you only get 0-1 gunpowder, but who would wanna do that? They're adorable.
Alligator - Swamp biome mob, can run fast and has a powerful bite.
Dark Snowman - Snow biome mob. Throws deadly snowballs at you, turns into a pile of unattackable snow if you get near it.
Sand Golem - Desert biome mob, can use the sand around it to pull you toward it. Weak against water.
Monkey - Jungle/Forest biome friendly mob. Drops bananas.
Serpent - Jungle/Forest biome mob, very fast, does little damage, but when bitten, you are poisoned, similar to being on fire.
That being said, i'd imagine bats as the weakest mob (in terms of attack) in the game. I think survival should really have you "surviving", not just building a fancy base and only having to fight monsters in mines.

Those are some really great ideas. You should show Notch.

Birds would be out in the day, bats would come out at night. Bats are not scary/dangerous enough for hell, which is why I think hell should have it's own version of bats.

Yes they should definitely be on the bottom of the damage scale, but not necessarily the only ones there.
I would like hostile birds, but only in certain biomes and few in number.

What's the best way to contact him?
