Hey Notch(and anyone else that may possibly have this info), I was wondering if this Halloween Update included both death and killing in SMP. Thanks for your time.
P.S. I set up a countdown timer on my desktop that counts the days/hours/min/secs until the update!!! Cant wait...I know you wont disappoint :smile.gif:
I don't think this will be solved on this update. With all that is going on I'm pretty sure that there are other bugs to be fixed first. Not saying this isn't important but it would take away a lot of time Notch has to finish this update.

Although, you never know for sure.
I cannot think of a more important bug than the lack of damage/hp.
Im not saying it isn't important. I am saying there are alot of other bugs and stuff to do. The world generation has a few bugs in it. Where walls don't match up. Im not sure if that will be put in this update because of the ammount of work that needs to be done on this.

I agree. There is not ONE single thing more important than this. I check everyday for information on when it will be fixed.
It will be a tragedy if this is not fixed by October since those of us who play multilayer exclusively will not be able to fully enjoy the new updates.
No consequences for actions = no fear or anxiety = Ghast is less a nuisance than having no milk after you poured yourself a bowl of Cheerios

Clearly there are plenty of things to work on, fix, and improve. All of these I am sure he will get too. It would just be extremely disappointing if he passes over fixing HP for wall fixes, new monsters, and a hell area. The entire Halloween update would be wasted by not correcting the health issue.
The health issue will probably fixed last, mainly because there are so many other bugs that can kill you. It would be so frustrating dying and losing all your stuff to bugs and what not.
Well I believe his goal is to fix the major bugs so i guess hp is a major bug but maybe not as high on the list as say fixing generation, making servers more stable, reducing lag. fixing furnaces more and many other things

I wouldn't call us an "evil" clan, all we want to do is butcher people for fun.

I agree with this, there were times where I just get crushed by random terrain blocks. If that happened to me while mining I would ragesmack my monitor. >:ohmy.gif:
I agree that being killed by bugs wouldn't be fun, but I'm going to be honest: my friends an I just don't think the game is worth playing without having to worry about damage. We mostly just stick to single player, because there's a sense of achievement when you have to overcome threats to accomplish a goal. Damage-free multiplayer just ended up with us playing "who can get the most zombie groupies in a night."
Notch mentioned that server-side health was going to be his next goal for SMP after he added the day/night cycle. I assume that his goals havent changed any since then. Besides, how can he ignore health when the game is called SURVIVAL Multiplayer. Im certain its part of the MP fixes he has in mind.

Seriously? **** like that ****s my whole day up. And if my day is ****ed up, people get ****ed up. :tongue.gif:
Also, I feel like having infinite mining tools gives more of a feeling of impunity than immortality does...
If he where to not do damage, and fix farming, I would be pleased.
I would much rather have a quick, and nearly infinite source of food before damage is out.
yeah yeah, pigs, but farming is a lot more reliable.
FIX FARMING OVER DAMAGE? FARMING. OVER. DAMAGE?!
What's it like on the planet you are from?
I will cry if there is no damage in the 31st update. It will practically ruin it. Since most servers will restart a new map for this update, and there will be new monsters. The servers would again have to restart maps when damage works, to make the entire map legitimate. (unless it plans to be a peaceful server) Having no damage would be just plain disappointing. The only way to play and enjoy the update would be to go single player, which quite frankly, I will no longer do. Therefor the new update would be partially worthless to me (new monsters at minimum)
P.S. I set up a countdown timer on my desktop that counts the days/hours/min/secs until the update!!! Cant wait...I know you wont disappoint :smile.gif:
How can you count the hours mins and secs when a release time hasn't been issued, only a release date?
Set it to 2pm when I will log on :smile.gif: THATS HOW!
On a side note, why doesnt Notch update SMP and Single Player on the same exact...pace? Wouldnt it not be easier to manage if they were both on the exact same page? Perhaps there is a reason he chooses to do this that I am missing? Anyway thats how I would do it, I feel I would lose track of whats fixed in single player and whats not fixed in SMP? What do you guys think?

I'm personally hoping for both at the same time. and that fishing will work in SMP from the start.
@emperorr: somewhere in the vicinity of beetlegeuse. we like our farming there.
