Basically, what I mean by "chain linked" is that you need to complete achievement1 before you can get achievement2.
First off, I don't see a point in it.
And second off, if someone's world breaks and they have it fixed, they need to start from the beginning stages to get all the achievements, even though they may have well "completed" the game. By completed, I mean survive a sufficient amount of nights.

Jeb said at one point that he was working on having achievements sync to the Minecraft server. That will most likely be implemented around the time when we get public profiles.
Sometimes the achievements get erased, like when you install a snapshot, but it doesn't happens all the time. Basically, you can get the wood, build the bench, the useless wooden tools, and you completed the first half of the achievements. Also you don't get a reward for getting them. The sync is needed if you want to complete them and maintain them on the account on every computer. I think that the achievements are a sort of story line of Minecraft, but an X-Box like achievement system would be good, and may include more achievements and rewards, like a store or something like that.
they should do a mod where if u make this achievment (get it) you get to go to a spawned villager village and there should be a shop the more achievments u get the better the stuff you get or maybe a map to emeralds diomands temples other villages... etc.
