I always lose mine is there a way to prevent this?

I wouldn't assume so, since Minecraft is still in beta.

You could keep a .txt file if your stats are important to you, and Notch hasn't really made many achievements yet.

Well there's a few achievements, and it's always a hassle when i update and have the achievement thing go off every time i bank (go to chest).

They reset randomly for me. Sometimes out of memory errors corrupt the statistic file for some reason. It sucks but it happens.

I'm not sure you can until Notch puts them on a server.
